Magpie Mahjong

One year ago today—on May 29, 2025—I taught my first mahjong lesson. Flash forward a year, and I’ve since hosted 113 mahjong events and taught 103 mahjong lessons. 🥳

A year after that first lesson I’m now just a few days away from launching my second mahjong league, proudly sponsored by , a brand I love and female-owned business I admire. Pinch me!

My goal when starting Magpie was to spread the joy of mahjong, to grow our local community of mahjong players, and to create special mahjong events I would want to attend. I’ve since taught and hosted hundreds of mahjong players and partnered with amazing businesses and organizations I admire like , , , , , , , , and .

Bringing my idea to life has brought me a lot of joy and fulfillment. THANK YOU to everyone who has attended my events and classes, especially my first students (guinea pigs, ha) at ! ♥️

Our May open play is this Saturday morning, and it’s set to be extra festive with a delicious spread of food and drinks (a cold-brew bar! mimosas!) included.
