The Old Webster Jazz and Blues Festival is pleased to welcome back Marquise Knox as our Onder Law Stage Headliner!
Marquise Knox was born and raised in St. Louis surrounded by blues figures who have made him who he is today. Taught to play guitar by his grandmother, Lillie, and encouraged by his uncle Clifford, Knox was mentored by Henry James Townsend, a Grammy award winner and National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellow. His career really took off when he was invited to play at Blues Masters at the Crossroads, a two night blues festival hosted by Blue Heaven Studios in Kansas. It was then that Knox signed a three-album deal that produced a variety of covers and originals in the style of the late Muddy Waters, an American blues musician often cited as the “father of modern Chicago blues.” Since then, Knox has appeared at festivals nationwide
and throughout South America and Europe. He performed with blues legends
including B.B. King, Pinetop Perkins, and Honeyboy Edwards. Marquise first
performed at the Old Webster Jazz & Blues Festival at the age of 16.
You can see Marquise on Gore Avenue at 9:00 pm.
