Diet culture sold women a dangerous idea: that being smaller was always better. For generations, women were encouraged to eat less, weigh less, and take up less space. Many learned to fear muscle, avoid strength training, and undernourish their bodies in pursuit of thinness. The problem? Thinness doesn’t protect us from aging. Strong muscles and healthy bones help us stay mobile, prevent falls, recover from illness, and maintain independence. When we spend decades shrinking ourselves, the consequences can show up later as frailty, fractures, and loss of function.
The goal shouldn’t be to stay small forever.
The goal is to build a body that can carry you through your entire life.

Get the cookie.

Not because you earned it.
Not because it’s a special occasion.
Not because you worked out.

Just because you want the cookie.

Sugar messaging is exhausting. One day it’s “natural sugar is fine,” the next day artificial sweeteners are the problem, then suddenly fruit is suspicious too. At some point, all the rules can make eating feel way more stressful than supportive. A healthy relationship with food usually has more flexibility, less fear, and a lot fewer internet debates. Let’s see what our dietitian friends say in the comments!

You do not have to earn your food. Food is not a reward for being productive, exercising, or looking a certain way — it is fuel, comfort, culture, and care. Your body deserves nourishment every single day, simply because you are alive.

Hot take: not everything needs protein powder. Put it in your coffee, don’t put it in your coffee—either way, you’re still just a person drinking caffeine and trying to survive the day.

Making comments about weight loss, eating less, or GLP-1 medication can be toxic. You never know what someone is going through. Changes in appearance can be tied to health, stress, or personal struggles. It’s better to focus on things like someone’s personality, effort, or accomplishments instead of their body.
