One of the things we love most about our Summer Enrichment Program is that kids learn by DOING.
This summer our students will work together to:
🧱 design structures
🧱 solve engineering challenges
🧱 practice teamwork
🧱 communicate ideas clearly
🧱 build, fail, rebuild, and try again
Lego are going to be a huge part of that learning this year.
And while we’ve gathered what we can, we still need more building materials to make these activities possible for all age groups.
If your family has extra Lego you’d be willing to donate, we would be incredibly grateful.
Even small donations help.

Listen. We got the meats. 🔥🍔🌭
But this is COMMUNITY community.
So if you’ve got:
🥗 potato salad
🍉 watermelon
🍓 desserts
🫘 baked beans
🥤 drinks
🌽 cookout classics
🍰 that one thing your family always makes
…bring it on.
Juneteenth celebrations have long centered around shared meals, gathering together, and making space for joy in community.
Some of the earliest celebrations happened around picnic tables, church grounds, family reunions, and neighborhood cookouts.
That spirit still matters.
So come eat.
Come laugh.
Come sit awhile.
Bring your people.

BREAKING NEWS:
PCMDC is now accepting:
🧱 Lego donations
🧱 Lego trades
🧱 Lego bartering

🧱 Possibly ancient Lego artifacts discovered under couches
Our Summer Enrichment Program children are preparing to become:

“luxury good”

What is Juneteenth? ❤️
Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed that they were free.
The Emancipation Proclamation had been signed two years earlier.
That delay matters.
Juneteenth reminds us that freedom delayed is still injustice, and that truth, liberation, and community have always traveled person to person, family to family, church to church.
Early Juneteenth celebrations were often small and intimate:
family gatherings,
church meals,
music,
prayer,
storytelling,
and shared food in safe spaces.
Today, Juneteenth has grown into a nationwide celebration of Black history, Black resilience, Black culture, and Black joy.
At PCMDC, we celebrate because history deserves to be remembered AND because joy belongs to us too.

PCMDC’s Annual Juneteenth Celebration is coming back Friday, June 19 from 11 AM–4 PM! ❤️🖤💚
We’re spending the day together with:
🔥 grilling
🎶 music
🎨 crafts
🎲 games
🍉 food
❤️ community
We’ll have burgers and hotdogs on the grill, and if you’ve got something you want to throw on the fire, bring it along!
This is a community-style gathering, so we’d also love for folks to bring a side dish, dessert, fruit, drinks, or something special to share.
Juneteenth celebrates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
For generations, Black families celebrated with church gatherings, cookouts, music, storytelling, games, and shared meals long before Juneteenth became a federal holiday.
So we’re honoring that tradition the best way we know how:
together.
Families, elders, neighbors, summer program students, alumni, and community members are all welcome.
Because what’s a celebration without your people?

🚨 LEGO SOS 🚨
Friends… we need your Lego. 😭🧱
Our 2026 Summer Enrichment Program curriculum is HEAVY on engineering, building, teamwork, communication, bridge design, problem-solving, and STEM projects this summer, and while we already have a decent Lego collection…
…it is NOWHERE near the amount we need for all these brilliant little builders.
So I am humbly asking:
👉 Are you spring cleaning?
👉 Cleaning out toy bins?
👉 Stepping on Legos at 2am and seeing the face of God?
👉 Do your kids have tubs they’ve outgrown?
👉 Did somebody leave you a rare Lego inheritance in their will?
WE WILL TAKE THEM. 😂
Big sets.
Tiny bricks.
Mixed tubs.
Random wheels.
Base plates.
Mini figures.
That weird mystery bucket that has lived in your closet since 2014.
We can use all of it.
Drop-offs can be arranged through Facebook Messenger or by emailing:

SPRING CLEANING TIME = LEGO DONATION TIME 🧱✨
Okay friends, real talk:
Are you cleaning out closets?
Rotating toys?
Getting ready for summer?
Stepping on LEGO in the middle of the night and reconsidering all your life choices? 😭
WE NEED YOUR LEGO.
This summer’s Summer Enrichment Program curriculum is SUPER STEM-heavy and includes LEGO projects and engineering activities almost every single week.
And while we already have a decent LEGO collection… we absolutely do not have ENOUGH enough. Not for the number of students we serve and not for the giant ideas we’re trying to build this summer.
So if your children have outgrown their LEGO, if you have tubs collecting dust, random bins, partial sets, weird pieces, colorful bricks, wheels, people, ramps, or mystery bags of chaos… we want them ALL. 😂
