Local music teachers (including the entire WASD faculty!) were invited to a behind-the-scenes tour with our partner vendor, Menchey Music Service, Inc. Highlights included the Hanover retail store, Operations Center, and basic repair clinics for woodwinds, brass, and string instruments.

Special thanks to Mrs. Alyson Balascik (Greencastle-Antrim) for organizing the day on behalf of our Franklin-Fulton County Music Educators Association. It was a wonderful day spent with area colleagues and Menchey, an important partner to our school music programs.

Congratulations, graduates! We’re proud of the many music department members that walked this evening in the most beautiful weather.

Thanks to our Graduation Wind Ensemble, including Mrs. Metcalfe, Mrs. Schaubroeck, and Mr. Vensel for playing/working past their school year to help us maintain a tradition of excellent live music at graduation.

You’re encouraged to attend the indoor ceremony at the Legion, but we have no official involvement. Stay dry, but remember that the grill still works in the rain!

Hats off to our rising student leaders for their participation in the third iteration of the CAPS Leadership Clinic.

Focused on providing practical tools for confidence, accountability, positivity, and servant leadership to our band, the program is designed to be a year-long conversation regarding our agreed ensemble norms. Thanks to Mr. Williams for his major contributions to this year’s clinic!

Mr. Vensel and Honors Music Theory welcomed professional pianist and music director Nick Wilders for a brief clinic focused on the students’ collaborative choral composition.

It was a great opportunity for feedback from an industry professional!

The Towne Singers, hosted today at Trinity UCC in Waynesboro, features present and former music teachers from WASD and surrounding communities, local professionals, and keen amateurs. This community choir is one example of extremely high quality LOCAL musical experiences available after high school participation ends.
