Mud Season, But Make It Summer.
We expect the spring mud... but summer? That's just rude.
Between surprise downpours and heavy hooves, parts of the farm start to feel more like a bog than a pasture.
We pride ourselves on keeping the farm tidy and neat... but right now, some areas are just full of mudd.
Thick, sticky, boot-stealing, cow-tracking-everywhere mudd.
We're doing what we can to combat it:
Rotating pasture access to give high-traffic areas a break
Laying down gravel in gate zones
Scrubbing troughs and walkways more than we'd like to admit to fight that muddy splash-back
Keeping bedding dry in the barns for cozy cow naps And when all else fails... we embrace the mess. Boots on. Spirits up.
We'll admit that it's a bit of a balancing act, but we're here for it. Cows muddy and happy.

Life lesson from a Highland cow
Spend five minutes with a Highland cow and you'll learn a few things:
Take your time, the grass will still be there.
Stay curious, but stick close to your herd.
Soft doesn't mean weak, it means approachable.
And if someone offers ear scratches? Always say yes.
Raising these cows isn't just cute, it's grounding. They remind us to slow down, breathe deep, and enjoy the little things (like a sunny nap in the shade).
