When fathers allow themselves to express emotions, ask for support, repair mistakes, and care for their mental health, they teach their children something incredibly valuable: that being human is not a weakness.

This Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s redefine strength.. not as carrying everything alone, but as having the courage to be authentic, connected, and supported.

Fatherhood comes with incredible responsibility, but dads are still human.

Many men experience depression differently than the way it’s commonly portrayed. Instead of sadness, it may show up as irritability, anger, withdrawal, overworking, numbness, or chronic exhaustion.

Because these signs often go unrecognized, many fathers struggle in silence, believing they simply need to “push through.”

This Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminding dads that support isn’t just for everyone else.

You deserve support, too.

The environments we grow up in shape the way we move through relationships, conversations, and even silence.

When criticism, judgment, or gossip are normalized in childhood, many people learn to anticipate rejection before it even exists. Hypervigilance can begin to feel like protection.

Over time, it’s possible to learn that not every room is judging you, and not every thought you have about yourself deserves to be believed.

just because you’re capable of carrying it…doesn’t mean you should have to carry it alone ❤️

So many people invalidate their own emotions because they believe they should only feel one thing at a time.

But life is more nuanced than that.

You can love your life and still feel overwhelmed.
You can feel grateful and still feel exhausted.
You can be healing and still struggle sometimes.
You can deeply love the people around you and still need support yourself.

Two things can be true at once.

Sometimes growth looks like allowing yourself to hold complexity without judging it.

Heading into Mother’s Day weekend…

Just a gentle reminder that this day can bring up a lot of different emotions.

Joy.
Grief.
Love.
Overwhelm.
Longing.

Sometimes all at once.

However it feels for you, you’re allowed to feel it.

Mother’s Day can be emotionally layered.

While it’s often framed as a day of celebration,
it can also bring up grief, unmet expectations,
identity shifts, and complex relationships.

Two things can be true at once.

You can feel love and exhaustion.
Gratitude and overwhelm.
Connection and loneliness.

Your emotional experience doesn’t have to fit into one narrative to be valid.

Sending love to the moms who…

-are doing everything they can to be there for their families
while quietly feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or not like themselves

-are navigating motherhood while also unpacking trauma, cultural expectations, or complex family dynamics

-feel overstimulated by the noise, the touch, the constant needs
and still keep showing up, even when their nervous system is asking for a pause

And a gentle reminder:
you deserve support too.

Therapy can be a space where you don’t have to hold it all together.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚🎉

At Mindful Intentions, we believe mental health support
should feel accessible, collaborative, and human.

Not just something you turn to in crisis
but something that supports you in your everyday life.

Whether you’re navigating stress, transitions, relationships,
or feeling overwhelmed… you don’t have to do it alone.

Support matters and it’s okay to seek it.

May can look full on the outside…
but feel heavy on the inside.

There’s a lot happening right now..
transitions, expectations, emotional load,
and the quiet pressure to keep going.

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, overwhelmed,
or like you’re carrying more than usual…
you’re not imagining it.

Ask yourself, what’s one thing I can do to support myself today?
