Railradar is Back — Built for Our Community

Hello friends and neighbors,

In 2021, I set out to solve a problem many of us know all too well: trains blocking our crossings at all hours of the day.

Living in a town with one of the largest railyards in the region comes with real challenges. Long, unpredictable delays. Missed appointments. And in the worst cases, the very real concern that emergency vehicles could be slowed when every second matters.

That frustration led to the first version of an app called Railradar—a tool designed to give our community better visibility into what was happening on the tracks. I poured a considerable amount of time, energy, and personal investment into bringing that idea to life.

Unfortunately, in 2022, core functionality broke. The developers who built the original system became unreachable, and despite my best efforts, the app couldn’t be maintained. Railradar went quiet, and by the end of 2025, I officially shut it down. Firmly in the RED.

But the problem never went away.

So instead of letting the idea stay dormant, I decided to do something different.

Over the past months, I’ve personally rebuilt Railradar from the ground up—rethinking the technology, the reliability, and the long-term sustainability of the app. Every decision this time around was made with one goal in mind: to actually serve our community in a way that lasts.

I’m happy to share that Railradar is returning, with a full relaunch planned for the end of this month.

This isn’t just an app coming back online—it’s a second chance to deliver on a promise I made to myself and to this town. I’m incredibly excited to put this new version in your hands and continue improving it based on real community feedback.
