I cleaned out my ceramic trap today. It had been too long, and there was a lot of debris in the trap. The key is getting clean and making sure that when you put the gasket back on with plenty of Vaseline around it to make sure the seal is tight. I do this every time I clean the trap out. The other key thing is making sure the trap is well supported underneath. So I put cardboard underneath it to make sure that it holds the container and it doesn’t pull the other pipes. You’ll notice there’s a red turn on the trap. Make sure it’s closed before you turn on the water!
