The Watkinsville Rockets were back in action this weekend. Playing in a 18u tournament. We went 1-2 on the weekend, with both losses coming to Social circle. We played in the championship coming up short 6-1. It was a fun weekend, we will be back at it again soon.
The mixed and matched Rockets had a hard fought day today losing 3-0 in our first game against Mill Creek 18u. But we came back game 2 ready to Rock and roll against the Georgia Spikes. Zach Moorehead came up clutch with 5 innings of 0 earned run baseball on the mound. Reid Dantre came in to close it out and give us a 3-2 win. We are back at it tomorrow at 8:40AM against the Georgia Spikes again. Ready to compete for a tournament championship.
Yesterday the Watkinsville Rockets 17u traveled down to Griffin, to play in our first tournament since July. It was a all around great day for the Rockets, as the Defense, Offense and Pitching all came to play. We won 3 games by a combined score of 22-6. Reid Dantre came up big with a complete game shut out in the championship game. Stephen Mustard in game two pitched all 7 innings on 73 pitches, only allowing 1 hit and 0 ER. Jackson Forrester hit the first HR in Rockets history. It was a overall great tournament for the guys. They will be back in action next Sunday.

The Watkinsville Rockets started as football team in the 1965 Under Emerson Haygood. Fast forward 54 years. His Great Grandson, Tyler Brugh wanted to start a travel baseball team and wanted to honor Emerson and his contributions to the community. So he named his team the Watkinsville Rockets. The Watkinsville Rockets have competed in 16u and 17u baseball tournaments the past two years. We are looking to expand into both baseball and softball. If you have would like to play for us or start your own team through the Watkinsville Rockets just PM us and we will help you out.
