🌟 Pivot at the Naturally Lewis Economic Development Conference! 🌟

Today, the Pivot team was excited to attend and table at the Naturally Lewis Economic Development Conference, joining community leaders, organizations, businesses, and changemakers who are working together to build a stronger future for Lewis County.

This year’s conference theme, β€œExplore. Stay. Grow.”, highlights how vibrant communities are built by creating places where people want to visit, live, work, and thrive. We were proud to share how Pivot’s prevention initiatives are helping make that vision a reality by reducing substance misuse, promoting healthy choices, empowering youth, and fostering positive community change throughout Lewis County.

Thank you to the organizers, attendees, and fellow exhibitors for the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and showcase the important work happening across the county. πŸ’™

🚭🌳 Lewis County Parks Are Going Smoke-Free & V**e-Free! 🌳🚭

Pivot’s UP! Youth Project, in partnership with the UP! Coalition and Lewis County Public Health, is excited to continue expanding our Smoke-Free & V**e-Free Parks Initiative throughout Lewis County!

What started in 2025 with signage at the Lewis County Fairgrounds has now grown into a countywide effort to help create cleaner, healthier, and more family-friendly recreational spaces for everyone to enjoy.

βœ… Signs have already been installed in:
πŸ“ Turin
πŸ“ Castorland
πŸ“ Croghan
πŸ“ Lyons Falls

πŸ“… Additional installations are scheduled this month in:
πŸ“ Lowville
πŸ“ Constableville

And more locations are currently being coordinated!

By reducing exposure to secondhand smoke and v***r products in parks and playgrounds, we’re helping create healthier environments for children, families, and community members across Lewis County.

A huge thank you to our municipal partners, Lewis County Public Health, and everyone helping make this initiative possible!

πŸ“Έ Keep an eye on our page! More photos from previous sign installations, as well as upcoming installations, will be shared soon.

Hazardous Household Waste Collection Day is coming up, and for the first time EVER, v**e devices will be accepted for safe disposal thanks to the collaborative efforts of DANC, BOCES, Jefferson County Public Health, Watertown City Fire Department, the Alliance for Better Communities, & the Youth Alliance!

Why is this important? Disposable v**es are more than just litter β€” they contain lithium-ion batteries*, plastics, ni****ne residue, and harmful chemicals that can leak into our soil and waterways when thrown in the trash or on the ground. They also contribute to microplastic pollution and can even cause fires when improperly disposed of.

By properly recycling v**e devices, we can help protect our environment, wildlife, sanitation workers, and our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!

*HHW Collection will not be accepting lithium-ion batteries other than those found in v**e devices.
