Waterloo VFW post shuts down due to financial struggles, failure to elect leaders VFW Post 1623 in Waterloo has officially shut its doors, but the VFW Department of Iowa's State Adjutant says several steps were taken to prevent the closure.

It's a sad day. But after a long financial struggle the Waterloo VFW post is standing down and ending their watch. The State VFW has taken ownership and will see to the respectful liquidation of Post assets.

Black Hawk County Veterans Affairs is proud to work alongside the County Recorders office to help launch Honor Rewards, a program that connects local veterans with businesses offering exclusive discounts as a way to say thank you for their service.

Veterans can enroll for free to receive an Honor Rewards ID card, and local businesses are invited to join and show their support.
