10 years ago today I woke up from a distressing dream that one of my dogs was peeing blood. It felt ominous, real and important so I let my dogs out to potty one by one and in horror, I saw one of them peeing blood. This wasn't a tinge of blood in the urine, it was almost as if it was all blood in the urine and I knew exactly what it meant. I called the vet and made a same day appointment and waited to collect his urine for bringing to the vet. The jar was literally full of blood. My vet tried to reassure me that some blood can happen when they have a UTI and I said I know that and then handed the jar to him. He looked at it and said that it's not normally that much blood and I told him that I know that too. He had hemangiosarcoma in both of his kidneys. You cannot live without both of your kidneys. I was told he had a week to a month to live. They wanted to euthanize him that day but I insisted on giving his as much time as comfortably as possible and spent the next two weeks praying over him, taking him to church conferences so others could pray over him and just trying to make his life happy. Most dogs with hemangiosarcoma bleed out internally and their owners didn't even know their dogs were sick. Because of that supernatural dream I got an extra two weeks with my boy before he became too ill that he could barely understand me. I miss you Liame, you were my heart dog.

Luke is 11.5 years old. Yesterday was the FIRST time in his life that he did not come running up to me to volunteer as tribute to be the first one to get his nails trimmed.

Apparently I’m such a good dog trainer I’ve managed to create a mouse Einstein. I’ve got at least one mouse in my basement that I’ve spent over a week trying to unalive. It’s managed to beat THREE different kids of mouse traps. At this point, I feel like I’m just setting up a feeding station for it. Anything you guys can recommend that won’t kill a dog too?
