Who Makes Hurricane Damage Worse? Insurers, Banks and Investors 06/22/2026

It’s not just the fossil fuel industry that is making storms worse. Oil and gas companies cannot build their destructive projects without the same corporations that hold significant power over our financial security and daily lives: insurers, banks and investors. Read more:

Who Makes Hurricane Damage Worse? Insurers, Banks and Investors The climate crisis is raising global temperatures, making hurricanes more likely to bring stronger winds, heavier rain, and more damage. But the fossil fuel industry isn’t the only force making storms worse.

📚The Story Isn't Over: Honoring Juneteenth ✊

This Juneteenth reminds us that progress has never happened on its own. Every right, every opportunity, and every step forward came from people who organized, spoke out, and refused to accept the world as it was. ❤️🖤💚

Today, we honor the legacy, truth, and resilience of the generations of Black Americans who built joy, culture, and community in the face of injustice. Not only by remembering history, but also by recognizing the people and communities who are continuing to shape a better future right now. 📢💪

Their legacy lives on in the people continuing to build stronger, healthier, and more just communities every day. 🌎🌱

📣Reuters - The Ethical Corporation - publishes report on Total Energies' fracking operations in Arlington, titled.
👀 "Arlington's kids are paying for Europe’s Gas: Alarm over Fracking Health Risks in America’s World Cup City"
Some highlights:

➡️Doty, former air regulator who served as the TCEQ’s mobile air monitoring manager who conducted an optical gas imaging (OGI) survey of Total sites in Arlington said.
⚠️“Total is a big polluter in my opinion... Make no mistake about it.”

➡️Carbon Mapper satellite found 2 super emitter events visible from space from Total sites in the area - also near schools.

➡️There are health risk to communities from the hazardous chemicals like volatile organic compounds (VOC) including benzene that are released alongside methane , says PSE.

➡️Arlington’s children are in close range of the industry's health risks. In fact, on June 9, just days before the stadium’s opening World Cup match, TEEP Barnett received permits that will add 9 new gas wells at two sites, close to several schools.

➡️With fracking banned in many European countries, including France, and TotalEnergies the biggest exporter of liquified natural gas from the U.S., Arlington's children are effectively paying the price for Europe's thirst for energy, Bhandari says.

Lessons from a Children’s Story: If You Give the Oil and Gas Industry a Wellpad 06/17/2026

Pennsylvania’s setback distance for fracked well pads is just 500 feet from homes, schools, and other vulnerable places. That means families can end up living dangerously close to polluting infrastructure. 📍⚠️

Other states have adopted stronger protections, but communities across Pennsylvania are still fighting well pad by well pad for cleaner air and safer neighborhoods. Earthworks is standing with residents pushing for stronger protective buffers and policies that account for cumulative pollution impacts. ✊🌿

Trump Plans to Protect Methane-Leaking Stripper Wells. This Billionaire Donor Will Benefit. 06/16/2026

🚨Trump’s attacks on public health & the environment are NOT about energy dominance or helping you. It’s the rich helping the rich and leaving the rest of us to deal with the impacts.

Jeffery Hildebrand, owner of Hilcorp, could have invested in cleaning up his nearly 30,000 wells. Instead he invested in donations to Trump. Now his wife is Ambassador to Costa Rica & his lobbyist works for the EPA.

Hilcorp chose to pay to pollute rather than clean up pollution.
Our work over the years shows that hilcorp wells are not well maintained, and have pollution over and over again.

🛰️ Satellite data backs this up ^.

Low producing wells, like Hilcorp has, are big polluters. They amount to 6% of oil and gas production in the U.S. and account for nearly ½ the methane pollution.

During a recent investigation, Earthworks found pollution at 7 out of 8 Hilcorp wells. One within 1000 feet of a Navajo Nation dormitory school and one that was previously polluting at levels that could be detected from space.✨

The level of greed and lack of care for everyday people is outrageous. It’s not people they care about. It’s profits. People need clear air 🌱 & clean water 💧. But with profits, think just how much more $$ the rich could all have.

Trump Plans to Protect Methane-Leaking Stripper Wells. This Billionaire Donor Will Benefit. Oil tycoon Jeffery Hildebrand gave millions to Donald Trump’s 2024 election campaign. He is set to reap a financial windfall as the EPA moves to weaken restrictions on wells like his that produce very little energy but release vast amounts of methane.

06/16/2026

As always, let's take a look at the numbers that tell the story for our , Hilcorp.

Since last summer, Hilcorp has continued racking up methane pollution events, both on the ground and through satellite. In New Mexico alone, the company reported losing more than 320,000 mcf of methane gas through venting and flaring since August 2025.

Chevron’s $1.5M fine for Weld County blowout will finance improvements to monitoring programs 06/10/2026

ICYMI: Chevron must pay $1.5M in fines to Colorado for the largest oil & gas well blow out in more than a decade. 14 families and the elementary school in the small town of Galeton were evacuated. It will take years to recover.

It's right that Chevron pays to clean up their mess, but no amount of money can undo the harm done to those kids and communities.
