Always enjoy visiting with South Dakota farmers and ranchers. I had an informative conversation with Trevor Johnson from Centerville about the future of agriculture and the opportunities available for young people looking to make their living in farming and ranching.

I recently got to meet South Dakota State students participating in the NASA Gateways to Blue Skies Challenge. Out of just eight teams nationally invited to the finals, three teams came from SDSU and one team brought home the national championship!

Congratulations to these students on an incredible accomplishment and for continuing to showcase South Dakota’s leadership in science, research and innovation.

This morning, the Senate is beginning to vote on a reconciliation bill to continue funding for ICE and border patrol. While we wish this could have been funded through regular order appropriations, our Democrat colleagues have refused to fund these agencies. This bill will fund these two agencies for the rest of President Trump’s term.

The Flandreau High School Marching Band marched through the streets of DC this morning in the National Memorial Day Parade. Pleased to have nominated them for this honor. Congratulations to the students and their director Patrick Weight on a great performance!

On Memorial Day, we pause and remember our men and women in uniform who gave everything for our nation. We honor their sacrifice, courage and the freedoms they fought to protect. Home of the free, because of the brave.
