1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime.
Read that again, and then think about the eight women closest to you. Your mother. Your sister. Your daughter. Your best friend. Your neighbour. The woman you sit next to at work.
And here's the part most people don't know β€” 85% of breast cancers happen to women with no family history at all. "It doesn't run in my family" has never been a reason to feel safe.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You don't need to have had breast cancer to take two seconds and share this.

Breast cancer doesn't always cause symptoms that you can feel.
Screening recommendations vary based on age and personal risk, so talk with your healthcare provider about what's appropriate for you.
Don't assume feeling healthy means you don't need to be screened.
