"Hey y’all! I'm Addis, I am from North Carolina, and I kind of speak Portuguese these days.

In my time in I am trying to throw myself into spaces that invite community and keep going back to them and see where that takes me. Specifically, I hope to meet people through basketball, learn about organizing through engaging with São Paulo’s vibrant and militant social movements, walk at least two hours everyday, and fall asleep in parks.

Last semester I studied abroad in Cuba where I was transformed by my relationships with Cubans who know much more about the world than I did and so I hope to have a similar, yet more Brazilian experience here in Brazil. Hopefully my contributions here can represent one way of studying abroad that is useful to at least one of y’all."
