In 2022, Vince Fraser (https://www.facebook.com/vincefraserillustration/), ursula rucker, and ARTECHOUSE Studio teamed up to bring ASE: Afro Frequencies to life.

“The elements in Aṣẹ portray the boundaries and the limitations that we experience as people of color in daily life, but at the same time, I’m also focusing on paying homage to our ancestors. In conceptualizing the exhibition with ARTECHOUSE Studio, I wanted to capture the balanced elements of sight and sound so that visitors could truly experience the power of African culture,” said Vince Fraser.

The exhibition’s visuals are echoed by stirring spoken words from Philadelphia-based poet and musician ursula rucker. A Leeway Foundation’s Transformation Award winner, Rucker’s words of empowerment, ancestry, and social justice powerfully narrate the exhibition.

We love how artists can transform the walls of ARTECHOUSE DC into worlds where the only limit is their imagination.

"This is a once in a lifetime chance where I can bring my static, two-dimensional art of illustration into something technically that didn't exist even seven- eight years ago." -Yuko Shimizu (https://www.facebook.com/YukoShimizuArt/ ), New York-based Japanese artist

In 2020, we pushed the limits by using technology to transform the more traditional art of illustration into an immersive, animated, interactive experience in Hanami: Beyond The Blooms.

As we look back on some of our favorite memories from ARTECHOUSE DC, Hanami: Beyond The Blooms remains a standout reminder of the artists, creators, and experiences that helped shape our space.

In 2021 at ARTECHOUSE DC, you could walk into a real-life 3D model of a human prefrontal cortex neuron, the “thinking cell” of the brain.

We were so inspired by the complexities of our own mind that we created a world where we could sit inside it🧠

In Life of a Neuron, ARTECHOUSE worked hand-in-hand with neuroscientists from the Society for Neuroscience (https://buff.ly/xE3lKWl ) to visualize the inner workings of the human brain, turning raw scientific data into living, breathing art🧬

In 2024, collaboration with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Twilight Zone plunged you into the mysterious depths of the ocean to discover the enchanting world of bioluminescence and interconnectedness of marine life🐙

In 2020, we welcomed the amazingly talented Carly Harvey (facebook.com/carlyharveymusic) to ARTECHOUSE DC for a special live performance that transformed our immersive digital space into a celebration of music, art, and community.

Based in Washington, D.C., Carly Harvey is an award-winning Blues artist whose sound bridges the roots of Blues, Jazz, Soul, and Indigenous American music.

A dynamic performer and compelling storyteller, Carly is also the originator of the “Native Scat”—an improvisational fusion of traditional Jazz s**t singing with Indigenous American vocables that reflects her Afro-Indigenous heritage.

As we look back on some of our favorite memories from ARTECHOUSE DC, Carly Harvey's performance remains a standout reminder of the artists, creators, and experiences that helped shape our space.

We miss our DC audience and we can't wait to host more incredible local artists!
