Listen to when you need to step back and reconnect with yourselfš

Before you say YES to one more thing, ask yourself if itās worth the extra weight it might mean having to carryšļøāāļø

Last week I had to do some reflecting and admit life needed to SLOOOOOW DOWN a bit and thatās okay! Letās all be kinder to ourselves and not feel so bad when we need to admit we need to take on a little lessš¢

Wring our that sponge my fellow people pleasersš§½ I relate to the people in my life by taking in whatever it is they might be feeling. This is something Iāve always worn as a badge of honor. Being able to understand, relate and help my friends is a huge part of what makes me ME! But, this becomes a slippery slope for me, or in this case, a sopping wet sponge. Sometimes I absorb the feelings of so many people around me that I often canāt clearly distinguish my feelings from everyone elseās. Shifting away from this is TOUGH because I donāt ever want to lose the close connections I have, but I know itās through this work that will help me help myself, while also helping othersš¤

Remember this every time! Youāre the only one who knows what you should say NO to. No one else. Just youšš¼

Instead of telling our feelings to GO AWAY, what if we embraced them? Allowing ourselves to sit with how we feel will reveal new truths about ourselves. Itās in these reflective moments where real growth takes hold.

Itās easy (really easy) to get comfortable not confronting something or someone. Being silent means we literally donāt have to do anything. Getting comfortable in this spot means no one will ever hear our ideas because weāre too afraid of being confronted about what we really think. Itās this type of hiding that keeps us from getting to know ourselves better. It keeps from real growthšŖš¼

I didnāt misspell thatš by learning to say NO, Iāve noticed itās not as scary as I thought. Iāve found Iām less resentful, far less passive aggressive and much more in tune with what I actually want to say YES to. As a people pleaser, the very idea of saying NO is straight up terrifying at first, but with small steps and practice, it gets easierš

Do whatever you can to avoid disappointing yourself!

Why do we people please? Because being seen as good makes us feel safe and worthy. One of the things I have to remind myself of OFTEN is that you can say no to something and still be good. Iāll admit...quarantine has given me a long break from being faced with those moments as often as I used to be, so Iām a little nervous to see just how rusty Iāve gottenš hereās to hoping I can coach myself through the moments where I struggle to say no just because I donāt want to feel like Iām letting anyone down! Hereās to hoping I just donāt let myself down this timeš

Itās not selfish to tell yourself the things you need to hear. We should be telling ourselves how proud we are of what weāve done, how far weāve come and how happy we are that weāre our own person. We donāt need to look for this type of validation from others when we can find it first in ourselvesš
