Forever true to "The Underdog", Rural Dog Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs in shelters who are often overlooked for adoption or rescue.

We save the dogs who are at most risk of being euthanized: the hounds, the black dogs, the seniors, the sick and the broken. WE MAKE A COMMITMENT TO RESERVE A MINIMUM OF 50% OF THE DOGS WE SAVE TO THE UNDERDOG. Please visit our available pets on RuralDogRescue.com

Meet Erwin 🐾

Smart, snuggly, and always ready for an adventure, Erwin is looking for his forever family! This lovable boy enjoys going for runs, playing at the dog park, riding in the car, working on food puzzles, and soaking up all the snuggles he can get.

He’s already mastered an impressive list of commands, loves learning new tricks, and would thrive with a family who can keep him active, engaged, and loved.

Could Erwin be the companion you’ve been looking for? Visit the link in our bio to learn more about adopting him.

🚨 Foster Homes Needed! 🚨

We have a few pups in need of foster homes over the next couple of weeks:

🐾 Jethro needs a foster starting 6/26
🐾 Joey needs a temporary foster from 6/17–6/19
🐾 Buddy needs a temporary foster from 6/28–7/1

Fostering saves lives. By opening your home for just a few days or weeks, you’re helping us continue to rescue dogs in need while they wait for their forever families❤️

Meet RDR alum Andarna 🐉❤️

Andarna (formerly Zendaya) was adopted in October 2025, and her family says she has been an absolute joy from day one! She settled right in, quickly learning which toys belonged to her and which belonged to the kids. These days, she’s mastered playing with everyone—dogs, kids, and adults alike—and is known for being an attentive listener and wonderful companion.

Stories like Andarna’s remind us why we do what we do. 🐾

We’re running low on dog food and could use your help. With several long-term foster dogs currently in our care, food costs add up quickly—but every bag helps us continue supporting these pups while they wait for their forever homes.

If you’re able, please consider purchasing a Chewy gift card from our wishlist. No gift is too small, and we’re grateful for any support you can provide.

Thank you for helping us keep tails wagging! ❤️🐶
