Honoring the Navy’s Role on D-Day ⚓

Today, we look back 82 years to the historic invasion of Normandy—Operations Overlord and Neptune. The Navy’s role was monumental, spanning transport, combat engineering, and point-blank shore bombardment.

While CNIC was established decades later, the roots of D-Day's success live on across our current regions:

🎓 NSA Annapolis / USNA: Trained the junior officers who commanded vital landing craft.

✈️ NAS Patuxent River: Tested and developed critical maritime patrol aircraft.

🔱 JEB Little Creek-Fort Story: Pioneered the amphibious warfare doctrines and elite NCDU training used to clear the beaches.

🌲 Solomons Island Annex: Trained thousands of Sailors to pilot the craft landing troops at Omaha and Utah beaches.

The success of D-Day proved that a fleet is only as strong as the shore infrastructure that sustains it. Today, Commander, Navy Installations Command carries that mission forward as that generate all Fleet readiness.

Strengthening Our Pacific Partnerships 🤝

Today, CNIC was honored to host members of the Hawaii Military Affairs Council (MAC) at our headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Comprised of influential business leaders, community advocates, and retired military officers, the council plays a vital role in connecting the Navy with the heart of Hawaii. The group met with Navy leadership to discuss one of our most urgent priorities: accelerating the delivery of critical infrastructure to the warfighter at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and across the Pacific.

These discussions are essential for strengthening our partnerships, improving readiness, and ensuring our installations are prepared to support the fleet. Thank you to the Hawaii MAC for your continued collaboration and dedication to our shared mission!

: Leadership on the Waterfront at San Diego

CNIC Executive Director Mr. Timothy Bridges and CNIC N4 Ms. Christine Ploschke recently spent time on the waterfront at Naval Base San Diego, connecting directly with Sailors and shipboard leadership.

Why do these visits matter? Because understanding the challenges and needs of the fleet is the only way to provide world-class support from the shore. It’s all about ensuring warfighters at sea and shore have what they need, when they need it.

Every pier we secure, every hull we sustain, every runway we clear, and every ship we help cast off is a direct continuation of a legacy forged in sacrifice.

This Memorial Day weekend, we pause to honor the legacy of the fallen heroes who once cast off from these very shores, giving their lives to secure the freedom we defend.
