Plane, Trains and Automobiles
I loved John Candy, the way that he would finish each of his films with that trademark guileless smile and a warmth that always said, “we’re happier together.” In the wonderful Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Dell Griffith (John Candy) and Neal Page (Steve Martin) have one meltdown after another as they try to make it home in time for Thanksgiving. And just when you think all is lost, they finally “see” each other for the first time, who they really are. It’s a beautiful moment and a great lesson for our current times.
