Last month, Synergy registered its non-profit initiative, Synergy Rising, in Washington D.C. . As a part of this initiative, last month two talented members of our community - Agbanyim Ugwuomo and Emelie Mårtensson - offered movement and herbal workshops at our youth empowerment program in Peru, Urubamba Rikchary. We’re deeply appreciative of the time and energy that Emelie and Agbahyim spent with the youth in Urubamba.

In addition to Urubamba Rikchary, Synergy is affiliated with Kibera Rising, which offers free breaking, capoeira angola and girls empowerment programs to youth in the Kibera slum in Kenya.
Attention DC Area Friends: Come visit Love Your Body Day 2012, on June 10 at the Reston Town Center. It is a wonderful community event celebrating yoga and wellness . . . plus we will have a table there!
Many thanks to Stacey Stier-Herndon, owner of Bikram Yoga North Texas for the very generous donation which will enable the kitchen to be built at the Javelita School! In addition to providing meals for the students, local grandmothers will use the kitchen to teach the children how to prepare traditional recipes.
