I am incredibly proud to share that the American Red Cross of Arizona & New Mexico was honored with the Presidential Award for Excellence for our work addressing extreme heat.

This recognition belongs to all of our Red Crossers. Our volunteers have been at the heart of this work, helping us reach communities across Arizona and New Mexico with care, commitment, and lifesaving action. Through their service, we have built a community-led extreme heat resilience model that is making a difference and gaining national recognition.

I also want to share that I was joined in representing the SWaRM Division to receive the award by Henning Larsen, Executive Director, Northern Arizona; Katherine Segura-Salas, Executive Director, New Mexico; Courtney Slanaker, Executive Director, Southern Arizona; and Jeffrey Quijano, JD, LLM, CFP®, Board Chair of the Central Arizona Chapter.

I am proud of the leadership of our executive directors and grateful for the way they have helped champion and elevate this work alongside our volunteers, employees, and partners across Central Arizona, Northern Arizona, Southern Arizona, and New Mexico.
