Postscript
Postscript is a non-profit design, branding, and social media-strategy organization.
Thoughts and prayers go to those impacted by the massive earthquake in Nepal. We are grateful that our friends & partners at Women LEAD are safe, and hope to assist them in whatever ways we can moving forward. We can take solace in knowing that the young women empowered through the program are prepared to take a leadership role in the recovery efforts.

The best part of the work we do is seeing partner organizations continue to grow and develop after our design phase is complete. Check out new career opportunities available to help expand Women LEAD's impact in Nepal by visiting their website, one we're proud to have designed with them: http://women-lead.org

Meh. Yahoo! made a pretty big deal about their new logo, including a 30-day campaign that displayed alternate logo ideas daily. The result is, by all accounts, rather underwhelming, and CEO Marissa Mayer's blog post about it (read it here: http://j.mp/13iNU7E) and the image below give us a sense of why. In an effort to "geek out" by showcasing data-centric design principles (trying to signal to start-ups, no doubt) and satisfy employee survey data (a classic case of design-by-committee), they've landed on something that looks pretty bland. Not all redesigns have to be dramatic, but when you build up such hype over it, you're bound to disappoint. What do you think?

Too cool! A Women LEAD alumna participated in a World Bank hackathon to address violence against women, an excellent example of our partner's training programs triggering action in Nepal.
Young People Use Tech to End Violence Against Women in Nepal There were thunderstorms. There was a strike. And there was the hackathon to end violence against women -- all happening on the same day in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Very interesting.
A Rare Peek At The Guidelines That Dictate Google’s Graphic Design In April 2011, Larry Page took the reins as Google’s CEO. He didn’t waste any time getting down to business. On his very first day on the job, Page launched an incredibly ambitious effort to redesign the company’s main products, including search, maps, and mail. He wanted them to be beautiful--Googl...

SO COOL seeing our graphics all over Women LEAD's graduation ceremony! We're proud to see our designs on the certificates of Nepal's next generation of change-makers. Definitely an inspiring scene as we work hard to finish their new website this summer.

As we work on infographics for Women LEAD, we can take cues from minimalist techniques like these: http://blog.visual.ly/45-ways-to-communicate-two-quantities/
45 Ways to Communicate Two Quantities Back in 2010, I was giving a workshop on interactive data visualization in Lima, Perú, discussing whether a dataset has a unique or at least an ideal way to be
