Have you ever had a conversation with someone where you found yourself hanging on their every word? Your heart is wide open, your eyes filled with tears, and the goofiest smile you’ve ever pulled is on your face? DC’s Authentic Game Nights and Circling Events, hosted by www.JeffreyPlatts.com, are designed to give you

that same experience with people you’ve never met before. Authentic DC is inspired by the Game Nights and Circling events held in San Francisco by AuthenticWorld. The purpose of the community is to allow people to feel relaxed, open and inspired with other people who are tired of the same old boring encounters with “new people”. Sometimes loud, sometimes intensely quiet, sometimes risky. We are tapping AuthenticWorld for fun and engaging games that we can play ourselves. WHAT KIND OF EVENTS ARE THESE?

* Imagine a fun playground where you can practice the art of relating with others but in a fun, social atmosphere. They are safe places for taking risks and playing a little more outside our comfort zones and the discovering more about ourselves than we might in our everyday lives.
* By ‘authentic’ we mean that there is no cookie-cutter mold for how you should be or what relating should look like. Everyone is a complete universe unto themselves, has a unique style, personality, and integrity that is perfectly *them*, and everyone is perfect and amazing as they are (including their belief that they aren’t.)
* They’re also a chance to have fun and party in a conscious way with great people, going beyond small talk and expected social norms.
* All this is within a light-hearted container which is safe for getting real, taking emotional risks, and personal growth.
* Things to expect: laughter, relief, anxiety/excitement (and the wisdom to know the difference), reverence, love and connection, new friends, and new possibilities for how you engage the world
* These are fun, highly interactive activities done in both groups and with partners. WHO COMES TO THESE EVENTS?

Would love to hear from the men on this...

Friday Q & A ....for the men...

I was in another group and read about how frustrated women are about men on dating sites who are “pen pals-never ask you out,” “one-date wonders and say they will call and often do but still never ask you out again,” or “the call and have great conversations say we should get together and never ask you out.”

In some cases, it’s clear the man is simply not interested. I get it.

But in other cases why keep engaging the lady?

This is particularly challenging regarding online dating.

We are a modern society in many ways and yet, there is a prevailing expectation that the man asks the lady out. I’m not saying women don’t ask men out, I’m saying we are still socialized that way for the most part.

I really want to hear from men on this. No judgement, just truth.

Folks attending or planning to attend Authentic Relating Games Night on Saturday: PLEASE READ this IMPORTANT UPDATE.

Due to some last-minute issues, we have to MOVE Saturday night's Authentic Relating Games Night from our usual location at the Viva Center north of Dupont Circle. The time is unchanged.

Our NEW location is one that is familiar to many of you:

Washington, DC 20011

The closest Metro stops are Columbia Heights and Georgia Avenue - Petworth. Parking near the Dance Loft is much easier than near the ViVa Center.

Happy “See-Me” Saturday!

I posted this in my group today in reference to a 21 day challenge. But as we all know the challenge is not just about “the challenge”. I thought this particular message was worth sharing here.

***Call It Out***

Now it’s time for tough love.

You gotta call out your “ish,” your “stuff”, your “BS”, your “sh*t”!

If you can’t acknowledge what you “are” doing, you can’t acknowledge what you “aren’t” doing!

I’ll start! I missed yesterday. I did not work out the 30 minutes I said I’d do, or even the minimum 10 for the challenge. Now that I’ve declared where I missed the mark, I can take steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Without calling attention to the things that matter in your life, you can’t be held accountable. Worse, you can’t be seen!!!! And if you can’t be seen for ALL that you are - the good, the bad, the questionable - then how can you have real intimacy with a partner.

Intimacy = In-to-me-see

What do you need to call attention in this challenge? In your relationships? With your men? With your women? In your life?

Being is about bringing the WHOLE of you to be seen, known, and heard.

It’s not about perfection, getting it right, or looking good.

It’s about showing up!

You do what you do, or you don’t.

But you show up either way open, authentic, and ready.

Ready for connection, ready for healing, ready to receive, ready to give, ready for relationship, ready for love, ready for anything, ready for everything, ready for life.
