NAMB Speaks Up for Brokers and Borrowers π
On August 7, NAMB submitted formal comments to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on the TRID Rule, the right of rescission, and reverse mortgage disclosures.
Here is what we asked for:
β
Materiality-based flexibility in TRID timing rules, without cutting the guaranteed review period consumers already have
β
Any relief given to small banks and credit unions extended on equal terms to independent mortgage brokers of similar size
β
Streamlined, non-duplicative waiting periods for refinance transactions
β
Modernized reverse mortgage disclosures, including a clearer dollar based illustration of how loan balances grow over time
NAMB members work directly with borrowers at every stage of the loan, and we see firsthand where the rules add real cost and delay without adding real protection. Our comments call for cutting that unnecessary friction while keeping the consumer protections TILA and RESPA were built to provide.

10 weeks until NAMB National and the first early morning of the weekend belongs to golf.
The tournament tees off Friday, October 16 at Las Vegas Golf Club, 8am sharp. $150 for an individual spot or $500 to lock in a foursome.
Anyone who has played a conference round knows the truth: more real business happens over 18 holes than in most boardrooms. Four hours, no pitch decks, just conversation and a scorecard.
Your friendly reminder for this week: register before the course fills up.
Sign up and check out all the details at namb.org/national.
Tag your golf buddies below and start building your foursome. Flying solo? Say so in the comments and let's get you matched up with a group. Nobody tees off alone at NAMB National.

Knowing what NAMB does for you today matters. Knowing what NAMB already did to build the ground you stand on matters just as much.
The commission you earn, the right to be paid at all, the standards that separate a professional from a salesman: none of it fell from the sky. Each one has a year attached to it, a fight behind it and a name of someone who refused to let the broker channel disappear. History isn't decoration. It's the receipt for everything you have now.
Every one of these facts is a piece of that story, and a broker who knows where this started carries themselves differently than one who doesn't.
See how far back it goes at namb.org/history.

Every rule you operate under was written in a room. The only question is whether anyone was in there speaking for you.
NAMBPAC is how mortgage brokers get a seat at that table. As the industry's political action committee, it carries the broker voice into the halls of Congress:
β’ Backing candidates who understand the broker channel
β’ Fighting legislation that threatens independent originators
β’ Defending your right to compete and your clients' right to choose
Regulation is coming whether brokers show up or not. NAMBPAC makes sure the people writing the rules hear from the professionals who live by them, not just the largest institutions.
Every contribution is a broker refusing to be legislated out of the room.

Fifty years ago, a group of Florida brokers decided independent mortgage professionals needed a seat in the room where the rules get written.
That decision became NAMB.
On August 23, 1973, NAMB was founded to give brokers a voice in Washington, DC. In 1995, NAMB elected its first female president, Patty McGill, and made DC its permanent headquarters. Since then, brokers have carried their priorities to Capitol Hill on the issues that shape how they do business every day.
Today NAMB represents more than 533,500 loan originators still standing for the same thing: independence for brokers and choice for borrowers.

Somewhere out there, somebody watched this footage from their desk and made themselves a promise about this year.
You know the feeling. Scrolling through posts from an event while it's happening, watching people you know shake hands with people you'd love to meet, and thinking the same thought on every clip: I should have been there.
This was NAMB National 2025. The energy in that exhibit hall was real, the connections made there are still paying off, and the people in this video already know something the rest of the feed learns the hard way.
This year is bigger. NAMB National 2026 lands at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, October 16-19, and what's planned goes well beyond anything in this recap.
Watch the highlights, then make sure the next recap has you in it.

The best people in this industry have a habit of never raising their own hand.
The National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) Awards are open for nominations through August 15 at 11:59 PM ET. Seven categories covering brokers, originators, account executives and the companies that support them.
The broker mentoring half their market. The AE who answers on the first ring. The young originator everyone quietly agrees is going somewhere. They are too busy earning the recognition to ask for it, which is exactly why the nomination form exists.
Pick the category, tell their story, submit. It will only take minutes but mean everything to someone.
Nominate them at namb.org/namb-awards-2026.
