Lamond Riggs Development Task Force
HISTORY
The Lamond Riggs Citizens Association began its in involvement in development projects in our neighborhood several years before the task force was even formed. This increased involvement was the vision of then-LRCA President Rodney Foxworth, along with then-Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) Muriel Bowser, LRCA Vice President Dr. Melvin Rhodes, Citizens Aware Block Organization President Gwen Cofield and Lamond-Riggs Community Action Group Vice President Keith White and several other community leaders, who formally established the Lamond Riggs Development Task Force in 2006.

Occupied by Walmart | Jonetta Rose Barras | DC | Washington Examiner It was bad enough that District elected officials, particularly Mayor Vincent C. Gray, stood by as Walmart announced its intention to dump six stores into neighborhood commercial corridors, creating an environment ripe for the retail behemoth to bully small businesses.
The community meeting to discuss the Fort Totten Square development with Walmart as major retailer is this coming Monday, November 28, 2011 at 7pm at the Riggs-LaSalle Recreation Center in the Gym.
The Lamond-Riggs Citizens Association, along with it's development task force, is currently reviewing the Walmart proposal and its potential impact on our community. The review will consist of several elements that can be seen on either our Google or Yahoo Groups. The review, outreach, and feedback can help ensure that the project going on this site is a"win-win" for all involved parties.
The next immediate step will be a community-wide meeting on Nov. 28 at 7pm. Location is to be determined.
