Transatlantic Outreach Program

Today TOP 3 had the great honor to meet with a representative from the Stolpersteine project to learn more about the project and their important work to keep alive the memory of the victims of national socialism. We also visited a cross-generational housing project in and were able to learn more about initiatives to help people "grow old with vitaility."

It has been an inspiring ten days in 🇩🇪 and we have so much new information and so many new lesson ideas to bring home to our students and fellow teachers in the U.S.!

Yesterday TOP 3 had a fantastic visit at the Auswärtiges Amt in ! We were able to visit the archives to see some important historical documents and had the opportunity to meet with a representative of the Foreign Office to discuss the relevance of the -American partnership. 🇩🇪🇺🇸

Today we had the honor of meeting with representatives of the US-Generalkonsulat Leipzig for a discussion about the important work they are doing in and the relevance of the German-American relationship! 🇺🇸🤝🇩🇪

In the afternoon we toured the city to learn about the history of the GDR and the courageous citizens here who took to the streets and brought about the Peaceful Revolution and eventual reunification of .

TOP 3 had a whirlwind start to our with two days in 🥨! We visited the Jan-Amos-Comenius-Grundschule and the Sophie-Scholl-Gymnasium to learn about the education system and learn what school life is like for students and teachers in 🇩🇪. We were also fortunate to visit the Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Landesentwicklung und Energie to learn about the German and Bavarian economies and the economic ties between Germany and the U.S.

We also got to tour the city, with a special appearance by TOP's favorite Munich guide, Alexander!!

And that's a wrap on 2! 🎉

On their final day, the group visited erlebnis.europa , where they took part in an interactive simulation to learn how the European Parliament's decision-making process works. They then headed to Prinzessinnengarten, an urban gardening project in Berlin, to explore how and community-building can thrive together.

Our 2 participants are on their way home, but the journey isn't over yet— 3 arrives on Sunday! Stay tuned!

Another full day of learning for the 2 group!

The day began with a visit to the FEZ-Berlin, a nonprofit children's, youth, and family center just outside . Participants explored the center's impressive facilities, learned about its educational approach, and discussed the programs and services it provides to support children and families.

In the afternoon, the group toured the Reichstag, gaining insight into 's parliamentary system and the role of this iconic building in the country's democracy.
