"How silent are the footsteps of Spring..."

Time, is such an interesting thing; how differently my life looks to me now; how much clearer the silent pull has become, though still the path waxes and wanes. Ever present, the stillness and the pull remains, echoing...calling.

As we prepare for our Mid-Atlantic Premiere recording of "Windsong" tomorrow, such gratitude wells inside for the trust, support, and friendship we all share; our process of creations have been such a great responsibility in the path of vocation, the echos of what I have felt deeply artistically lead to pursue. Know what great honor I feel to walk this path with you all near; you have brought my life such...great love, purpose; and for that alone, I remain eternally grateful.

A few photos from our last rehearsal here at my home before the recording; more info soon on the release of the premiere album. I pray my message finds you all well, with a heart full of joy for the ones we love and value most.

My love to all -

As I reflect on the power of theater, I sit filled with such a sense of being deeply moved by The Newtowne Players' production of Pride and Prejudice. Words fail me a bit to express the beauty and joy I feel welled up about this show.

The vision of this production by Director Megan Rankin Herring was so palpable; the choices made—for the big picture and the small details—were such a masterstroke on the power of clear intention.

Phenomenal casting, beautiful costumes, fantastic set, decorum, accents, music, comedy, love...my god, the list could go on. This classic by Jane Austen, adapted by Kate Hamill, has been so astutely delivered by this cast; not one moment went by where I wasn't holding the story tightly—the tension alone between Mr. Darcy & Lizzy Bennet, to the final breaking point of their love—stunning.

I left feeling such a flutter in my heart for the reminder of a sacred love, a pure love, tainted and all. You'll be remiss if you don't see this production; take my word for it. The production opens this weekend through May 17th—tickets are available now, while they still last: https://www.newtowneplayers.org/pride-prejudice.html

As the gentle winds of Spring have moved through the land, I have felt her sweet caress; birdsong fills my spirit, and the beauty of the wildflowers awaken with gaiety of the welcoming of Spring!

As I have had a slow transition from the wintering months to the gentle embrace of Spring, it brings me the highest honor in announcing my newest Spring album in celebration of the Spring Equinox, "Windsong"! Featuring beautiful songs of the Celtic season, Gerald Finzi's beloved song cycle "Let Us Garlands Bring", and the Mid-Atlantic Premiere of Gwyneth Walker's musical narrated score: "Footsteps of Spring"!

This beautiful, nuanced album & concert will feature the voice of the flute, the undertone of the Celtic Windsong, and the groundings of the piano and bass, as we explore the season of renewal, beginnings, transition, and returnings.

It also brings me great joy in announcing The Rivers of Harmony is now a registered Non-profit! For those interested in learning more & supporting our work, please visit: davidwcooktenor.com/rivers

As these cold days of Winter have been such a great time for quietness, stillness, and reflection, imagine my Winter surprise when I received this extraordinary news -

It brings me the highest honor in announcing that myself and The Rivers of Harmony, have been awarded the Governor's Citation from the State of Maryland, for our work in our most recent American Premiere project, "Echos of Old"! The citation is as stated:

"Governor of the State of Maryland to the Rivers of Harmony,

Greetings: Be it Known: Because of your demonstration of high integrity and ability, meriting our great trust and respect, we are most pleased to award you the Governor's Citation in appreciation of your outstanding services to the citizens of this State."

I have felt such great emotions and deep pride to have received this award from the State of Maryland; my deepest gratitude to the many partners that were a part of this project, this award is as much ours as it is yours.

Spring is upon the horizon, and the promise of new beginnings; my heart is filled with such joy to have received this great honor.

As the year comes to an end, a wish from myself and The Rivers of Harmony, for Old Times Sake; "Auld Lang Syne", holds such a special place in the hearts of many, including my own, and brings about such a warming sentiment and reflection of the passing year.

I leave you all with a Blessings for the New Year -

As the final notes fade and the hearth fire dwindles to embers, let this be our wish for the turning of the year:

May the deep well of community and friendship sustain you through the longest nights; May the silent strength of the evergreen boughs remind you that life endures even beneath the ice and snow.

May the gathering light of the sun's return fill your own spirit, that you might carry warmth and brightness to the world. May your path be clear, your hearth be warm, and your heart find peace in the dark quiet of winter & the earth.

As the year comes to an end, I pray for harmony and strength for the new, till the next time our paths may cross.

Warmest wishes and Yuletide blessings to you all -

Time has passed since our concert, "Yuletide", and as we gathered last night at my home for a winter's feast, in time for the celebration of the Winter Solstice and the success of the concert, I have had moments over the last week pondering gratitude; gratitude for the many blessings of this year - not only personally, but professionally, all shared amongst dearly beloved friends.

A year ago this Winter, a spiritual transformation began to take place in my life; to have shared of this journey artistically, has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.

As the Season begins to turn, I pray my message finds you well and in good spirit for the Holiday. Yuletide & Season Blessings to you all -
