NPWH is the professional community for Women's Health Nurse Practitioners and other advanced practice registered nurses who provide women's and gender-related healthcare. We set a standard of excellence by generating, translating, and promoting the latest research and evidence-based clinical guidance, providing high-quality continuing education, and advocating for patients, providers, and the WHNP profession. Our mission includes protecting and promoting a woman and all individuals’ right to make their own choices regarding their health and well-being within the context of their lived experience and their personal, religious, cultural, and family beliefs.

After serving as Interim CEO since December 2025, Debbie will lead NPWH as we advance our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan and work toward our bold 2030 vision: advancing and protecting the WHNP profession, equipping WHNPs for excellence in practice, and building the future women’s health workforce.

With more than 20 years of clinical experience across the reproductive and sexual health continuum, Dr. Gianelis is dedicated to advancing women’s and gender-related health through clinical practice, education, scholarship, leadership, and advocacy.
As Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Women’s and Gender-Related Nurse Practitioner DNP program at Loyola University Chicago, she prepares the next generation of nurse practitioners to provide inclusive, evidence-based, and trauma-informed care. She also supports the advancement of WHNP practice as an Associate Editor for the Clinical Journal for Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (CJNPWH) and through her leadership with NPWH’s Advocacy Committee.
