“Preppy” is trending this fall but what does it mean and how do you make it work?

Before we get started, let’s clarify that “preppy” in terms of this trend is British Prep School preppy and not Southeast Spring preppy. So think tartan, plaid, and camel coats with riding boots not pastel Lilly Pulitzer and bows.

Many of the pieces that fit this aesthetic transition well with a punk rock, 90s, or even coastal grand vibe. You don’t need a full “prep” fit to be on trend. Pairing pieces with what you already have and like can allow you to participate in the fun of this trend without tossing your whole closet aside.
