What is a cricket behind the chimney?
A chimney cricket is a small peaked structure installed on the uphill side of a chimney. It:

* Reduces the risk of roof leaks.
* Prevents water pooling, which can damage shingles and flashing.
* Helps avoid ice dams in colder climates.
