If you have been following along with our updates, you'll know that a missions trip never ends when the team leaves- we strive to make an impact that continues long after we are gone. In this case, we are striving to make sure that Roman is able to get the proper medical care needed to walk again.

Roman is a hard working construction worker in Batey Gato. His father recently passed and Roman was in need of renewing his citizenship papers. Back in November, while traveling on his motorcycle to update his paperwork, he was in an accident. Roman's motorcycle accident in November left him with a broken leg that went untreated due to a lack of funds that would provide surgery and further treatment. Today we visited Roman and his caregivers to provide some food to help him with immediate needs. He and his caregivers were very appreciative and of course it was delivered with encouragement and prayers over everyone. Roman went to an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon in the afternoon and he will require extensive surgery to mend his injuries. This surgery and follow up treatment will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,500, which with your help, HIS would like to sponsor. Because of the nature of this injury and the duration of time since it occurred, it's imperative Roman has surgery as soon as possible. Because of the urgency of this care, HIS has committed the funds that will save Roman's mobility and provide him with the ability to work again. To help us fund this life changing procedure that will help Roman get back on his feet, return to work and live a productive life, click on the link below to make a donation, We will continue to provide updates through Pastor Isidro and the medical support we have been blessed to serve with in Batey Gato.

Serving the Lord in Dominican Republic this week!

Photos from Hands In Service's post 02/22/2026

Saturday 2/21/26

Our team of 12 started out Saturday morning at 3:00 AM as we departed from the Calvary parking lot in Souderton, headed for the Dominican Republic. Our plane was filled with energized vacationers, looking to get away from the snow and cold they were leaving behind in PA and headed to enjoy the fun and sun at the resorts offered in Punta Cana.

Our team was also energized and excited for our trip to the DR, however our excitement and enthusiasm was focused more on preparing for a week of service, providing medical clinics and children's evangelism to those living and working in the sugar cane fields of the Dominican Republic. God has gathered another amazing team of believers together for the journey, many of the members are serving with us for the first time in the Dominican Republic. We all feel blessed to be here, in His service. Please keep us in your prayers as we collectively serve those in need with our family at Free Methodist Church, House of Restoration.

Some of the pictures below show the landscape we encountered today on our journey along with a view of our accommodations that have been provided by God and our host's Pastor Isidro and his wife Lucy, who we are humbled to join in service.

Please look for our Sunday update which will be filled with photos and stories from our church services, meeting our team members in the DR and preparing for our week of clinics and children's evangelism.
