6/19/2026 @ 1600hrs.

Farmington Fire Dept was alerted of a possible explosion in the Plalan Lake community of Farmington Township. A ruptured oil well was found to be the cause of the explosion. At this time, it is unknown what caused the rupture and numerous agencies are on site investigating. Farmington Fire was assisted by Southington Fire Dept and the Trumbull County Sheriffs Office.

The incident in the area of South Park Rd and Lake Rd, Farmington Twp, Plalan Lake Community has been secured. Residents who evacuated can return home. An odor of oil will remain in the area as crews continue to mitigate the situation and begin cleanup. There is no immediate life hazards to residents in the area. Local and state agencies are on scene continuing to work.

Severe thunderstorms are possible across most of the area Wednesday night with the best chance west of Interstate 77. All severe weather hazards are on the table, but at this time confidence is highest in damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Check back for updates and be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Make sure you are prepared to receive severe weather notification. Currently counties to our west are under a TORNADO WARNING. We will be monitor the storm as it moves east.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia until 9 PM EDT.

Warm, dry, and breezy today. A cold front approaches the region on Saturday with scattered strong to severe storms developing in the afternoon and evening. There is a Slight Risk (Level 2/5) for severe thunderstorms. High pressure builds back overhead for Sunday.

🌡️☀️ Mostly sunny and warm the next couple of days with highs in the 80s. ⛈️ Rain and thunderstorm chances return on Saturday ahead of a cold front. Some storms could be strong to severe in the afternoon and evening, though morning rain and cloud cover could limit intensity.
