๐โโฌ๏ธ Nota de agradecimentio Tom's Mama.( Pardon my attempt at Spanish..I only studied Latin & French in school)๐
In March via Last Hope's hotline , Letty , dog coordinator, was asked to talk to a caller who only spoke Spanish.
The lady- Jesika- was extremely upset because her cat TOM was bleeding from his eye. She took him to her vet, and the eye meds prescribed were not helping . Her veterinarian said the next step would be an operation, but the price was so much more $ than she could afford.
She loved TOM so much, and didn't want to see him suffer. Was there any way Last Hope could help?
Letty & Doreen. cat coordinator, made arrangements with one of our animal hospitals to examine TOM.
One doctor performed the sugery to correct how TOM's eyelid was irritating his eye. Last Hope covered the cost.
Yesterday Jesika sent a thank you note & after photo that shows a spiffy &
completely healed TOM.
Her letter in Spanish; then translated to English is below:
"Spanish -
Es Jesika. Querรญa darte las gracias a ti y a Last Hope por cuidar de mi gato, Tom. El esta maravillosamente. He adjuntado una foto de รฉl para que puedas ver lo bien que lo estรก haciendo.
Gracias por toda tu ayuda, amabilidad y dedicaciรณn. Realmente aprecio todo lo que haces por animales como Tom.
English-
Hello,
Itโs Jesika. I wanted to thank you and Last Hope for caring for my cat, Tom. He is doing fantastic and has settled in wonderfully. Iโve attached a photo of him so you can see how well heโs doing.
Thank you for all your help, kindness, and dedication. I truly appreciate everything you do for animals like Tom."
Last Hope is so happy to see TOM well enough to wear a bowtie for his photo. ๐ผ

๐ BULLET is a happy Georgia Peach Pup whose transport was delayed 1 week through no fault of his own.๐
The delay didn't keep BULLET from finding a real family right a way.
His family is thrilled with their Feist mix, and promptly made his name as friendly as he is.
Say hello to Mr. SOCKS.

๐ป Great News! ZIGGY is Home after being lost 1 week. A ring camera over 3 blocks away found him. And his determined family "forced" the reunion by trapping him. ๐ป
ZIGGY & his sister ROSIE. were adopted from Last Hope 2 years ago as kittens.
ZIGGY bolted out the Bellmore back door 1 week ago & vanished..His LOST plea was posted here, along with flyers on poles, and messages on local social media.
Then 2 days ago a lady over 3
blocks away called with photos
on her ring camera late at night when she fed stray cats .
Definitely looked like ZIGGY & unlike her usual strays.
The family went over and called ZIGGY. He cried out from bushes nearby but didn't approach them out of fear.
Next ring camera showed ZIGGY being chased away from food by a raccoon.
Wednesday when they told me about the ring camera sightings, I made arrangements for ZIGGY 's folks to borrow a trap from Last Hope when a volunteer would be there to show them how to use it.
And then I added to the trap tutorial by phone .
Well, last night, they trapped the ZIGSTER in front of the lady's house .
A very happy & hungry -to-be-
home ZIGGY emerged from the trap & began eating voraciously.
Yes, ZIGGY
There is no place like HOME where there are no raccoons to chase you.
But your sister & BF, ROSIE, is hissing at you because you smell differently & had the nerve to abandon her for one whole week. ๐
Wednesday they told me ab

๐ป Another SUBWAY MIRACLE: Last Hope has custody of SUBWAY, the tabby run over by a Queens subway at 3am on June 2. ๐
His Discovery and
Survival were this friendly, & feisty guy's first 2 miracles.
His Remaining Sight is the 3rd miracle .
๐This poor tabby was run over by a subway in Queens in the middle of the night 2 weeks ago.
Coincidentally, Harlan, husband of Last Hope cat coordinator Doreen, was the MTA supervisor on duty at that track shortly after SUBWAY was severely injured.
He had power turned off, climbed onto the track, grabbed SUBWAY, & soon after found a plastic crate ad a temporary cat carrier.
At 6am after his shift, Harlan rushed SUBWAY to the waiting animal ER in Suffolk.
The tabby's eyes were damaged badly.
After stabilizing SUBWAY, the hospital staff needed to determine whether this poor waif was tame or feral.
That fact would decide how to proceed to take care of SUBWAY's pain.
By a second miracle, SUBWAY is friendly, and was making "biscuits" by the 3rd day at the ER.
A week ago, SUBWAY had surgery to remove his ruptured eye..We planned to assess how much vision remains in his other eye after he settled in at Last Hope.
Fake Test1 -Several days ago I took one step into his room, and he rushed to the front of his cage to "look" at me. His remaining eye appears fine ...much better than it looked right after his Close Encounter with a subway.
When a volunteer with much more veterinary savvy than me said SUBWAY heard me-
I held up 3 fingers & used my ventriloquist voice to simulate SUBWAY counting my fingers.
Real Test 2- 2days later at clinic our vet examined SUBWAY's eye ...all seemed good. Then SUBWAY spent quality time loose with Doreen. SUBWAY is super friendly...and negotiated open space with no problem.
Last Hope would like to thank West Hills Animal Hospital for taking excellent care of SUBWAY...beginning at 6am on June 3, for his careful monitoring when he was in shock, for frequent socialization tests to see if he were feral or tame, for constant updates on his status, skilled enucleation sugery, and kind total charges on SUBWAY's bill.
Our Miracle Man will spend at least another week recovering at the Wantagh Cat Center before he meets his public in pursuit of a wonderful home.
Continue prayers of gratitude for good fortune coming in the opposite direction of the subway train that probably doesn't know it rode over our tabby terrifico.

Please continue yiur prayers & good vibes for our brave boy.

๐ Meet DOTTY- 6 month old blonde Chihuahua mix with slightly long tresses.๐ถ
This sweet gal is a bit bewildered by her time in a crowded Kentucky shelter & her long trip to Last Hope.
She's darling but shy. DOTTY needs time & patience to adjust- and she came to the right place because our volunteers are extremely compassionate.
Just the other day, she was reluctant to leave her kennel for a walk & a kind male volunteer had a leash in his hand, as he squat down at DOTTY's level, whispering in a gentle voice to make her comfortable enough to enter out into that Big, Wild. New World called New York.
DOTTY will relax soon.
Wait until she finds out how wonderful a real home can be.

๐ป ๐ SASHA & STEVIE are bonded siblings. now 3 months old, and at Petco Wantagh for adoption.
When 5 week old orphans, they were rescued at an Inwood construction site.
It's doubtful they got there on their own power, so either something bad happened to their mom or someone bad abandoned them there.
SASHA was too young to do spackling, and STEVIE wasn't strong enough yet to cut 2 by 4s.
These sweet cuties were fostered by volunteer Lisa W who sings their praises daily.
We would love for SASHA & STEVIE to find a wonderful home together, and a home where they will not be required to do MANual labor..
A home where they will be loved & cherished.
