🎊 Shy Cat Success: Elizabeth & Summer Have Been Adopted!

Back in April, we talked about the unique magic of winning the heart of a timid kitty. The cats who hide during meet-and-greets are often the ones who love the deepest once they feel safe. ❤️ At the end of that article, we asked our readers to help write the next success story for a special, bonded mother-daughter duo: Elizabeth and Summer.

We are absolutely thrilled to report that someone did exactly that! 🏠

While trust is earned in inches rather than miles with shy cats, these two are making steady progress. Because they are both highly food-motivated, delicious treats have been the ultimate bridge to building confidence. At just 4 weeks post adoption, their adopter shares that it is incredibly gratifying to celebrate every single milestone—like the unforgettable moment Elizabeth slowly stepped forward to lick a Churu treat from their hand and gave a nose bop.

Watching these two sweet girls emerge from their shells and seek out safety in the presence of their new human is the most satisfying experience an adopter can have. Patience truly pays off!

Every month, we feature a Shelter Star of the Month—a celebration of our exemplary volunteers’ commitment, dedication, and attentiveness to the cats in our care. For this month, we are celebrating Deanna!

Deanna is an incredible volunteer whose dedication and compassion make a tremendous difference for the cats in our care. She is always willing to lend a hand, whether it's caring for cats at the shelter, ensuring they are comfortable, healthy, and loved, or helping with critical transportation needs. Deanna plays a vital role in getting our cats the medical care they need by driving them to and from veterinary appointments.

She has also traveled throughout the Boston area to pick up cats in desperate need and safely bring them into our care. In addition, Deanna assists with trapping stray cats! We are so appreciative of her reliability, kindness, and tireless commitment as she has helped countless cats on their journey to better lives.

Our team (and our cats!) are so lucky to have her. Thank you, Deanna, for everything you do!

Scotty’s entire world was recently turned upside down when his beloved person was moved into hospice care. Understandably, Scotty is feeling very scared, shy, and confused as he tries to process the sudden change.

Beneath that quiet uncertainty, however, is a sweet boy who simply needs time, patience, and love to feel secure again. Scotty is not the kind of cat who will run to meet you or demand your attention the moment he arrives in a new space. Instead, he is looking for a compassionate adopter who will let him settle in completely at his own pace.

Unsurprisingly, Spruce is a social eater. That's a cat who strongly prefers to eat with company! He isn't just looking for a meal; he’s looking for a friend—in fact, he finds great joy in being hand-fed by his favorite humans.

Spruce takes anti-anxiety medication to help him handle stress. He's looking for for an experienced adopter who can provide him with a peaceful, low-stress environment.
