• Lora Silva is a Boston based licensed acupuncturist. She earned her master’s degree from Emperor’s College in Los Angeles where she treated hundreds of patients in both clinical and community-style settings and developed a strong foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine alongside a modern, integrative understanding of health and the nervous system.
Her clinical focus includes orthopedic and musculoskeletal pain, women’s health, digestive concerns, stress and burnout. She offers grounded, compassionate care that addresses underlying patterns contributing to symptoms with an emphasis on restoring balance and supporting lasting change. Lora believes healing happens when the right conditions are in place and strives to create a space where it can unfold naturally and sustainably. She is honored to share this medicine and to work with patients on their healing journey.
• Will Martin is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in 2025. With a background in Western medical technology, Will brings an integrative approach to patient care, blending the wisdom of Eastern medicine with modern clinical insight. He treats patients of all ages and specializes in autoimmune conditions, psycho-emotional health, women’s and men’s health, pain management, migraines, colds and flu, and HIV/AIDS support and Lyme disease.

What does acupuncture feel like? What type of sensations should I expect?
If you’ve been searching “does acupuncture hurt” or “what does acupuncture feel like for the first time,” you’re not alone.
This is one of the most common questions I hear from my first-time patients!
The truth? Acupuncture is typically very gentle. Most people feel little to no pain, just a small pinch at most during insertion, and then, varied sensations once the needles are in.
During treatment, you may notice sensations like:
✨Dull aching or heaviness
✨Tingling or spreading
✨Warmth or gentle pressure
✨Muscle twitching
✨ Deep relaxation
✨Emotional Release
Other sensations my patients have mentioned: “seeing colors,” or feeling “one with the earth.”
These sensations are completely normal and often a sign that your nervous system and circulation are responding.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is known as “De Qi” or “Qi Arriving,” a therapeutic response that shows your body is engaging with the treatment and that qi has arrived in that area of needling.
And sometimes… you may feel very little at all – and that’s normal too. Acupuncture is still working beneath the surface.

Preparing for your acupuncture appointment doesn’t need to be complicated. Simple factors like nourishment, hydration, and allowing space before and after your appointment all support nervous system regulation and circulation, both of which play a role in treatment.🌼

A lot of people think acupuncture is just about needles or relaxation.
ㅤ
But what we’re really doing is helping the body regulate itself better — through the nervous system, circulation, and whole-body communication.
ㅤ
That’s why acupuncture can support:
• chronic pain
• stress and anxiety
• digestion and gut health
• hormone balance
• sleep and energy
ㅤ
It’s not about chasing symptoms.
It’s about helping your body respond differently.
ㅤ
Every treatment is tailored to what your body actually needs — because there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
ㅤ
If you’re dealing with pain, stress, fatigue, hormone imbalance, or digestive issues, acupuncture can help your body reset and function better.
