The Nether Providence Township Police Department joins many in our community thanking the school crossing guards for their service this year.
Chief David Splain recognizes the crucial role each school crossing guard plays in our community. Today he wanted to single out each guard by name and post: Jacque Knight at Providence and East Possum Hollow roads; Joyce Taylor at Moore Road and Media Parkway; Elizabeth Bagley at Nether Providence Elementary School; Ginny Burbage at Kershaw Lane and Brookhaven Road; Judy Copple at Wallingford Elementary School; Steven Hall at Brookhaven and Providence roads; and alternate Joanne Moore, who is ready to step in whenever and wherever needed.
“Our crossing guards become familiar faces. They build relationships with our children and their families,” said Chief Splain. “Thank you for a safe, wonderful year. Enjoy your summer break. We look forward to seeing you back at your posts in a few months.”

NEWS POST: Scammer Alert! Nether Providence Police Detective James Irey is warning the community after a scammer spoofed the Nether Providence Township Police Department's phone number to steal money or personal information from a township man.

Nether Providence Police Detective James Irey is warning the community after a scammer spoofed the Nether Providence Township Police Department's phone number to steal money or personal information from a township man.
The scammer made a call that appeared to come from the department's official phone number, 610-892-2875, on the caller ID display.
During the spoof call, the caller identified himself as “Officer Callahan” with the NPPD and said he had a warrant for the township man’s arrest. He then asked the man for personal identification, including date of birth and Social Security number, to resolve the bogus warrant with a financial payment.

"The Nether Providence Township Police Department will NEVER contact any person asking for personal information in an attempt to obtain money,” Detective Irey said.
An investigation by Detective Irey is ongoing. If you believe you are a victim of a similar scam, please contact him at 610-892-2875 ext. 124 or at [email protected].

FYI- A resident turned in a found key fob to Nether Providence Township Police on Tuesday.
The resident said the key fob was found earlier in the morning in the roadway in the 300 block of Plush Mill Road.
