Dear Springfield Trail Friends,
It has been a most unpleasant winter to say the least. The bikers, hikers, joggers, and patrons are looking forward to a most delightsome spring in the upcoming few weeks.
Unfortunately, there has been a lot of damage along Springfield Trail. We continue to thank the bikers who do a lot of clearing of the big logs using chainsaws. I don’t know where we would be without them. We are hoping to have a couple significant trail maintenance events this spring. If you know of any areas along the Springfield Trail, or any of the Smedley trails that are in desperate need of cleanup, please drop me a message.
Please stay tuned on our page for volunteer opportunities to help us over the next couple of months.
We are appreciative of all the help you provide us in keeping the ST strong.

The area will be blocked off.

UPDATE: 2/11 @ 12:05:
The leak was located and is being resolved. Thanks to all for your attention.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Earlier this evening, the township received a report of a possible sewage leak along the section of Whiskey Run between two trolley stops with a mention of Paper Mill Road. The section between the Springfield Mall trolley stop near West Sproul Road (PA-320) and the Paper Mill trolley stop was walked, as well the section between the Springfield Mall trolley stop and the Thomson Avenue trolley stop, and no signs of a leak (odor or visual were detected). We did not walk the entire section between Thomson Avenue and Woodland Avenue, but did check the immediate section approaching Thomson Avenue.
If you reported the leak, please let us know and with a few additional details we may be able to find it. Otherwise, if there are no additional reports or details before tomorrow morning, we will be grateful if, after sunrise tomorrow, someone can carefully walk Whiskey Run from the funeral home to Paper Mill Road and report back. If a leak is identified, please contact 911 and report it immediately, so the township can respond accordingly.
Thanks to all, especially Springfield Delco Police Department for dispatching two officers to investigate the matter.
