What will it turn into?Large oak cant.
Making a mixed-species top for an center for my folks. Using and that my dad and I sawed from our trees
While our solar kiln is big and was a beast to construct, here are plans for one that looks much easier and less expensive. It won't handle the same amount of wood and doesn't have a couple features ours has but it looks like a great project that could really payoff in the long run if you've got boards to dry.
149 degrees in our solar kiln!! Whooweee, that's freaking hot! That's how we dry our lumber to 6-8% using only the power of the sun.

2" (8 quarter) oak pieces going to kiln and then a few will become a counter for Baldwin Properties. oak

Solar kiln loaded with mostly 2" oak including some live edge. Mostly dry already because these are older air dried stacks.
Loading live edge 2" oak into our Solar kiln. These are damaged because they came from an old forgotten stack from our air drying field.
