Uechi-Ryu is a traditional Okinawan karate style emphasizing powerful, circular movements and close-quarter techniques.
It blends hard and soft elements, with a focus on strong stances, fast strikes, and defense against multiple opponents. Head Sensei: Shihan Kevin Linehan, Godan (5th degree)
Kevin has been training Uechi-Ryu Karate since he was 7yo, starting in Brockton and continuing to train with some of the best of the best that the Uechi-Ryu community has to offer. He currently holds a 5th Degree Blackbelt through Uechi-Ryu International Karate Association and is passionate on teaching this effective style of self-defense to everyone that is interested. Kevin also holds a purple-belt in jiujitsu through Travis Stevens and will often blend Uechi and jiu-jitsu together is provide self-defense skills both standing and on the ground.

We were named Uechi-Ryu International Karate Association 2026 New Dojo of the Year and as a thank you to the students who made this happen, each will be given one of these patches. We will not make this specific design again, as the award THEY earned can also only be earned once.
It’s a small token, but my appreciation to every student here is immense! Thank you for your hard work, persistence, dedication, and humor each and every training session!!

It was great having Sensei Lukas Pippos from Peter Pippos Karate Center come in for class tonight! I think he had a fun time and a great workout, given how sweaty and tired we are here! Just like old times!!

What a great night! An amazingly great night!
We got to celebrate the following:
Sensei Rico earning his 9th degree, with the title of Hanshi! This is an amazing accomplishment that many practitioners will never see. This takes years of patience, dedication, and training!
Katie earned her Yonkyu—Brown Bar! This is a huge promotion and is a testament to the hard work and dedication she has been putting in!
Freddy earned his Gokyu—one brown stripe!. He has also shown a ton of dedication, patience, and eagerness to learn!
Mo earned the rank of Kyukyu tonight!! We have had to put this off as Mo picked up the curriculum, at least the beginning stages, REALLY fast!! Mo has been a wonderful addition to the dojo!
And finally, Riley. Riley has been a special guest and wonderful addition to the dojo this summer! She was awarded a special patch that ties this dojo to the former Uechi-Ryu Mushin that existed in Wells, ME that was run by my godfather!
Finally, we celebrated being the 2026 Uechi-Ryu International Karate Association New Dojo of the Year!
