It's been years since I've posted here, but people still seem to find me through this page. So it seems like the appropriate place to make a public announcement.
I am still teaching but currently I am not taking any new students. I am not taking in any repair business. I disabled my website about a year ago and do not plan to restart it. I'm leaving this page up for the foreseeable future, but can't take any more students than the ones I already have. I anticipate my other work will only demand more of me moving forward, not less. it's unlikely I'll be taking new students any time soon.
Thanks to all of you for always keeping me busy. I've been very lucky in life that all my work has been music related. I know not everybody gets to do work they love. Thanks.

Extremely LOW LATENCY online lessons!
Right now lessons over Zoom or Skype or Google Meets or Facetime or any other "off the shelf" conferencing solution work "okay"... BUT they all have way too much latency (delay) for teacher and student to perform together. And that leaves a certain hole in a music education.
Whether it's performing duet arrangements, or "jamming" or even just playing together in unison... none of it has been possible up until now.
but with my NEW LOW LATENCY AUDIO SERVER running the audio of our lessons we will soon be able to have extremely low latency within 500 miles of my server here in Wakefield.
We have been doing some testing and are looking forward to full implementation sometime soon.

Remember how cool iTunes Visualizer seemed 20 years ago? It was like magic.
Simpler times.
One of my students wanted to play "My Way" but we did it his way and whipped up a little demo recording together.
And because Facebook doesn't allow a music post without video, we get to remember the times when we were all just happy to have made it past the Y2K threat.

We've been doing a combination of zoom, outdoor open-air, and indoor social distanced lessons. Whatever the student is most comfortable with.
Lately the outdoors is threatening to get chilly. But have no fear... A big outdoor heater has been ordered and is on the way to keep us toasty through the fall.
So come play with me! Virtual, outdoors or inside (safely across the room) we are on fire!

EDIT: We're now deep into January and I still am holding outdoor lessons for those who are uncomfortable indoors or on Zoom.
I'm not gonna say it's always toasty, but the heater is making it work even in winter!

One really positive thing about this social distancing...
I've started teaching Alice Cooper's "School's Out" a good bit earlier in the spring than most years.
And the line "School's out forever" seems to resonate better.
