SECONDS MATTER.
They’re the difference between a frown and a smile, eyes up and the dreaded eyes closed. In these frames, it separated a leisure cruise to stylish air.
Mind those moments, you never know what can be the difference between special and ordinary. Eyes up and stay engaged.

Come cooler weather, duck hunters will again return to the marshes and shorelines to pursue waterfowl, but our impact remains.
Fishermen will run the bays and pole into skinny water chasing schools through all months of the year, nurturing the ecosystem when done well and punishing it when not given consideration.
Bird watchers may kayak the backwaters to take in array of species we habitat along the coast. Never noticed with proper stewardship, but trashed when not cared for.
Kids will play on the beaches with wild abandonment. They’ll pick up their stuff and go home exhausted at the end of the day or leave behind toys that will wash into the ocean and litter our shorelines for decades.
We all share these waterways, so do YOUR part to leave as little trace as possible. Just because you leave and don’t look back does not change the impact that will reside from poor judgement. Be the change. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

Sure it looks easy when all is going well, soaring along effortlessly in perception, but flight takes effort.
There are endless falls, crashing and burning along the way to finally reach the point of gliding with ease. You see the smooth sailing, fair weather days because when the weather turns to s**t and they’re fighting an uphill battle into the wind, most people have taken cover.
To soar, you’re going to expend plenty of effort getting there, coast on good days, but know there will be plenty of effort to keep yourself high in the sky.
Stop looking at the glamour if you’re not prepared to hustle for it; to get there and keep going. Earn everything.

Anyone like being told that? It usually doesn’t go over very well, but there are times and places where it must be applied. Those typically revolve around PRIVATE spaces and in hierarchical leadership scenarios when multiple opinions jeopardize everyone.
In an open forum, that line above is a dangerous sentiment to spread around. You have the choice to listen to others and just as much choice to move right along without hearing any of it.
If you’re so bold to believe that your opinion is the end all truth for everyone else to swallow, that ego is probably the most dangerous and destructive characteristic one can have. Why should anyone give an egotistical maniac carte Blanche to silence others? Isn’t that what many are yelling about on the National level, yet repeating on their own soapboxes.
A leader at any level right down to the individual whom cannot do as they preach, is no leader at all. You’re the epitome of hot air with no ground to stand upon. If you want change, you’d better start by leading the example in your own life.

You pick the setting. You pick the people. They make it worth remembering.
We’re social by nature. It’s truly the bonds that tie in an organic state, devoid of the smoke and mirrors that can’t handle face to face interaction. These outlets can be incredible tools to meet others with shared interests and foster friendships that may not have otherwise happened. It all hinges on true character shining through when you can’t hide behind highlight reels and posed conversation.
I challenge you to be social. Venture into new avenues that you actually have an interest in. Hide behind the charade and real people will learn of your character, leaving the phonies behind and solidifying true friendships.
Be unapologetically you.

What does it for me, may not do it for you and that’s just fine by me; vice versa. That pursuit for each one of us produces character, it creates a unique individual that only then can protect what they love because there is an inherent attachment to it.
Pursue those ambitions. People will be offended along the way, so what. Unless it’s producing negative ramifications in their daily lives, let opinions roll as they may. My opinion is no more important than yours.
Make action around those pursuits that will produce lasting results for the betterment of the activity, the environment and the next generation.

You can find me on the water for most months of the year, but come September, it all shifts to fields, forests and marshes. Hunting season is here, one which will create memories until February that hold us over until the next year and get passed along for decades.
I’m not in the pursuit of trophies. My drive is to be in open places, taking what I need to stock our freezer for the year ahead with many options from meat to stock. Most of it will take place along the Texas Coast, but new adventures pop up each year to pursue.
Cheers to the crowd that has waited many months for this return. If it’s not your thing, that’s just fine because it’s your life and your opinion. I’ll enjoy my pursuits.

It’s a ship, not a boat. That’s the bow, not β€œthe pointy end.” Let’s get down these basics before expanding your knowledge or you’ll be left with the crowd.

That’s entirely false, but in this age it could be fact since it’s on the internet.

Where there is a will, there is a way and stomping your feet about it only serves to wallow a hole, so cut it out already. Make progress by thinking around the problem for an actual solution.
No glass on the river? Have your cocktails in a can. That’s a CAN do attitude. I’ll be putting them down while you stamper about all the thinks that could be. Ice cold and ready to go, your better believe no cry babies are involved enjoying the river with us.

With a major storm stoking up to enter the Gulf, it’s time your plans are well in order. Uncertainty looms on landfall and strength, but I’ll give you this bit of advice...
Look at DATA over news outlets pitching you drama. It’s NOT going to be a weak storm wherever it lands, but National Hurricane System and NOAA have statically delivered the best accuracy over the last 28 years 48 hours out.
Sailor πŸ“: Do you take your orders from a Captain with decades at sea or the once 3rd mate emailing from the office as β€œPort captain?”

Start with yourself. Share that with people. Let a bit of ease spread amongst us.
There is room for laughter even in these times, that hope some need can come right from you. Show each other that bit by loosening up. Start now.
