Thank you Travis County, Texas - Government for the desire to repurpose this old growth pecan from the Richard Moya Park. This tree was lost over 4+ years ago. County partnered the Texas Urban Sawmill to remove, transport, mill, kiln dry & sterilize these massive 50+ inch wide slabs. Stay tuned for the and products planned for these slabs and to be enjoyed with the local community. What a great story of tree reuse in Texas and government focus on sustainability and reuse.

For today's urban wood example, we have an old, p***y mesquite log. Most would view such an older log as trash or waste but think again! Magic can be found in a variety of these logs even years after they are fallen.

Sorry you may need to turn up the volume! Talking & at the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) located between the City of Bee Caves & the Hill Country Woodlands Forest region of Central Texas. This remains one of the highest risk of wildfire in Texas. Another important aspect of salvaging trees that can be an IMMENSE environmental and forest health benefit. Please check out Texas A&M Forest Service for more information!

Maybe time for us all to re-consider the value in our fallen trees. For a $100 investment, we produced a very beautiful live oak mantle w two additional 1" live edges slabs. The tree now gets a 2nd life & has such a amazing story for for the property & homeowners. A win-win for everyone including our environment! Think twice about that fallen tree or log in your yard!
