The The Sun-Gazette Newspaper released an article about growth in Tulare County. GROW Tulare County leader and Associate Director of the Tulare County Resource Management Agency, Michael Washam, ACE, MEDP, took a moment to discuss population growth in our Central California community. Other Tulare County leaders also chimed in:
“The increase is where there’s more jobs being created and more housing being built,” Washam said. “The houses are kind of a lagging indicator, but they follow the jobs.”
Economic development, Washam said, drives demand for housing, which in turn attracts new residents. But even communities with demand cannot grow without the infrastructure necessary to support it.
“You can’t grow beyond your capacity for your basic infrastructure,” he said. “Sewer capacity, water capacity, things have to be built out in a timely manner. Otherwise, you really can’t get ahead of yourselves.”

The County of Tulare is seeking an Economic Development Analyst I/II to support business attraction, business retention, site selection, economic development programs, and strategic initiatives throughout Tulare County. This role works out of the Economic Development Office within the RMA and provides support for the GROW Tulare County regional business marketing initiative, and interfaces with the Discover Tulare County tourism program.
• Location: Visalia, California
• Annual Salary: $62,575.75 – $87,996.38 annually
• Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Big things are happening in Tulare County. Today, the City of Tulare welcomed Tulare County’s first Chic-Fil-A to 2977 Market Drive off of Cartmill and State Route 99.
What this means for our community is yet another fresh dining experience, and 140 new jobs to go along with all the foodie memories that will be created right here at home. The launch of Chic-Fil-A in our region will include a second location set to begin construction in Visalia soon.

Tulare County’s second Costco is coming to North Visalia. Our region continues growing, with space for more homes and more business development.

We thank the Office of Congressman Jim Costa for highlighting our very own Economic Development Manager, Alida Verduzco Silva. We take this opportunity to celebrate the women within our County of Tulare team and the women everywhere doing their part to help GROW Tulare County. Our team is focused on improved quality of life in California’s Central Valley, with an eye on business support and attraction, tourism, and all things related to a strengthened economy, and support from community partners like Congressman Costa is valued and essential to moving our region forward, as well as the support of our Board of Supervisors. 🙌
As we wrap up , I am honored to spotlight Alida Verduzco-Silva, Economic Development Manager for the Tulare County Economic Development Office.
