Straddling California's eastern San Joaquin Valley and the western ranges of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Tulare County Library serves all the citizens of Tulare County. The Library has branch libraries in seventeen communities. The Tulare County Library is a member of the San Joaquin Valley Library System, a cooperative network of ten public library jurisdictions in seven counties of California's central valley.

Animal enthusiasts of all ages are welcome to enjoy activities, reptiles, crafts, and so much more on our first Animal Appreciation Day! This program takes place in the children's area of the Visalia Library on Tuesday, 7/7/2026 from 10:00am-12:00pm.

Community groups in attendance include: Tule Elk State Nature Reserve, Fresno Aquarium, Forest Service, and the Visalia Literacy Center.

*In-person registration for Reptile Ron begins 6/30 at the children’s desk.

Tulare County is going Prehistoric?

This summer, Unearth A Story at your local library and participate in our 2026 Summer Reading Challenge! From Tuesday, June 9 through Saturday, July 18, readers of all ages are invited to join this free program and celebrate reading all summer long.

This year, the challenge for children ages 0-5 is to read or be read at least 20 books. Kids 6-12, teens, and adults are aiming to read for 20 days. You can read books, eBooks, magazines, articles, or listen to eAudiobooks—whatever fits your style. Visit tularecountylibrary.org/src for more information. Translation: Are you ready to learn to draw Anime Your Way?
(We know that's not actually the translation) Drop by our "Anime Your Way" Workshop for teens with Carlos Nieto III on Friday, July 10 at 1:30pm.
*Ages 13-17*
Carlos has worked on shows such as "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" along with working for studios such as Disney and Universal. You won't want to miss this class!
All supplies are provided, but seats are limited.

Like to dig around in the dirt? If not, that's okay! All families with children are invited to Visalia Library's Gardening Day on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 10:00am-12pm in the children's area.
Activities include planting with Luis' Nursey, kid's crafts, and more!

Tulare & Kings Master Gardeners will be here as well.
