UPDATE JUNE 19 2026 6:10 PM: Lockwood Shelter in Place has been lifted. Upper Canyon Way from the cattle guard on will be closed until further notice due to debris on the road.

June 19, 2026 5 PM: Storey County Emergency Management advises everyone in Lockwood to shelter in place due to flooding. The freeway is blocked due to flooding. Roads have mudslides and flooding. Stay home, stay safe.

‼️SCAM ALERT‼️
Storey County residents are being warned about two active phone scams targeting the community.

In one scam, callers claim to be Storey County Sheriff’s Office deputies and demand payment, stating a warrant will be issued if the person does not comply. In another, callers claim the recipient missed jury duty and must act immediately to avoid arrest.

Both scams are fraudulent.
Storey County will never demand payment, request personal information, or threaten arrest over the phone.

If you receive one of these calls:
Do not provide personal or financial information
Do not engage with the caller
Hang up immediately

Each year, the Storey County Public Works publishes a Consumer Confidence Report to keep you informed about where your water comes from and how it measures up to state and federal quality standards.

HAPPENING TONIGHT: Gold Canyon Area Drainage Master Plan Public Meeting
Residents are invited to learn about the completed Gold Canyon Area Drainage Master Plan.
Community input played an important role in shaping the recommendations, and this meeting will provide an overview of the final plan along with the next steps.

The Storey County Clerk’s Office invites the public to observe two final post-election observation opportunities:
• Final ballot process prior to canvass – June 15 at 5 p.m.
• Post-Election Logic & Accuracy Testing – June 17 from 9 a.m. to noon

Heads up for any folks who will be visiting the Vehicle Registration and Titling (DMV) Window at the County Clerk & Treasurer’s Office next week. The window will be closed on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
