VBPD Makes Arrest in Reckless Driving and Seizes E-Bike
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, June 12, 2026 – The Virginia Beach Police Department has charged a 15-year-old on a modified electric dirt bike after a dangerous, high-speed evasion of multiple officers. The teen, who was already on court-ordered probation for prior reckless riding, was caught despite three previous warnings and charges for the same behavior.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 4:18 p.m., an officer observed the juvenile riding a white electric dirt bike exiting Flanagan’s Lane onto SandBridge Road. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the juvenile accelerated away at high speed, later passing additional marked units and again refusing to stop. The helicopter unit arrived overhead and maintained visual contact until the juvenile abandoned the bike and was taken into custody.
The dirt bike, valued at more than $6,000 and equipped with a 16,800-watt battery pack capable of speeds exceeding 59 mph, had been altered and upgraded beyond its intended design. These modifications significantly increase the risk of severe injury or death to the rider and the public.
Reckless driving and misdemeanor eluding are included in the total of 13 charges levied against the operator of the electric motorcycle. The bike was seized and entered into evidence until the case is heard in Virginia Beach’s Juvenile Domestic Relations Court.
This incident remains under investigation by the First Precinct. Anyone with information is asked to contact VBPD at (757) 385-4377 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or P3Tips.com.
Note: The charges mentioned in this press release are accusations, and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

🚗🔒 We had a fantastic turnout last weekend at the Virginia Beach Police Department VIN Etching event. Our 3rd Precinct Crime Prevention Team successfully serviced 30 cars with free VIN etchings to help deter auto and catalytic converter theft in our community.
Why is VIN etching important?
🔹 Acts as a highly visible deterrent to thieves.
🔹 Permanently marks your car's unique fingerprint, making it easier for law enforcement to track and recover stolen parts.
🔹 Can even qualify you for auto insurance discounts!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by to protect their ride! Keep an eye out for future community safety initiatives. 🚓

PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT - PLEASE READ
The VBPD continues to monitor advertisements for unpermitted, non-sanctioned “takeovers”, including one for the Resort area this weekend.
No special event permits have been issued for a large scale gathering.
We ask the public not to respond to these posts or attend these gatherings as participation in unpermitted large‑scale gatherings creates safety risks and may result in enforcement action:
•Parents and teens: Curfew laws will be strictly enforced. Unaccompanied minors under 17 are subject to citation/arrest between the hours of 10 PM and 6 AM.
•Parents can be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, under § 18.2-371.
•Gathering on private property can subject individuals to arrest for trespassing.
•Individuals promoting “takeovers” can potentially be held liable for costs for public safety response.
Detectives continue to track accounts, posts, and are working to identify the account holders. Anyone with information related to these promoters or any unpermitted or unsanctioned events is encouraged to email the VBPD at [email protected].
