A common myth is that learning stops when school lets out for the summer. In reality, learning never really takes a vacation. Students continue to grow through reading, exploring new interests, traveling, volunteering, playing sports, and simply experiencing the world around them.

What can happen, however, is the loss of some academic skills when they go unused for several months. That's why summer can be such a valuable time to reinforce key concepts, strengthen weak areas, and build confidence before the next school year begins.

Planning to take the SAT or ACT this fall? Summer is the perfect time to start preparing!

It might sound early, but the biggest score improvements usually come from consistent practice over time, not last-minute cramming. Starting in the summer gives students the opportunity to build skills, learn test-taking strategies, identify weak areas, and gain confidence before the pressure of a new school year kicks in.

Whether you're aiming for a competitive college, looking to improve a previous score, or taking the test for the first time, a personalized prep plan can make a significant difference. Our tutors work one-on-one with students to create targeted SAT and ACT preparation that fits their goals, schedule, and learning style.

“Less” and “fewer” are often used interchangeably, but traditionally they serve different purposes. Fewer is used when you can count individual items, while less is used for things that aren’t easily counted.

For example, you would say “fewer students” because students can be counted individually. You would say “less homework” because homework is treated as a quantity rather than a collection of countable items.

A simple trick: if you can put a number in front of it, fewer is usually the better choice. If it’s something measured as a whole amount, less is often correct.

Ready for a quick brain workout? Logic puzzles are a great way to practice critical thinking, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills without feeling like traditional schoolwork.

Take your time, read carefully, and see if you can work through the puzzle step by step. Sometimes the hardest part is slowing down enough to think it through. See if you can solve this one!

Every student learns differently, which is why the same approach doesn’t work for everyone. Some students need help building confidence, others need support with organization or study skills, and some simply benefit from having concepts explained in a different way.

One-on-one tutoring creates space for students to ask questions, work at their own pace, and develop stronger academic habits over time. At Tutor A Team, we focus on personalized support that meets students where they are and helps them keep moving forward.

Are you smarter than a fifth grader? Let's find out! Answer in 3... 2... 1...

The correct answer is D) 9/12!

Equivalent fractions may use different numbers, but they represent the same portion or amount. The key is to find the common denominated. In this case, if you divide both 9 and 12 by 3, you get 3/4, making the two fractions equivalent.

One of the most common questions students ask is whether they should take the SAT or the ACT. The truth is that neither test is “better” overall—it depends on the student’s strengths, testing style, and comfort level.

Some students prefer the SAT’s slower pacing and heavier focus on reading and problem-solving, while others do better with the ACT’s faster pace and more straightforward question style. The ACT also includes a dedicated science section, which can work well for some students and feel stressful for others.

The best way to decide is often to take a practice test for both and compare not just the scores, but how each test felt. Confidence, pacing, and endurance all matter. The goal is to choose the test that gives students the best opportunity to show what they know.

Finally, you don't need to worry about whether your prospective colleges require one over the other. Every accredited university and college in the U.S. that considers standardized test scores accepts both the SAT and ACT equally.
